The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Check out the warranty conditions on Volkswagen's website for all the details, you can download both to compare.
But definitely no way you can take out the factory warranty now.website: www.my-gti.com

You COULD buy a 3 year USED CAR warranty from VW...even if the warranty expired in November...
Speak to Jaz Hokin...
A new car extended warranty is fully transferable to a new buyer.
I know,I have bought 2 extended warranties recently for my Jetta and partners Golf...

I spoke directly with VW insurance (an arm of Allianz) today regarding the the extended warranties and they don't offer the Used car extended warranty - only the new ones. So it has to be another mob that are underwriting the used car one.

Given the track history of alot of these MK5 and my experience,if you can get an extended used car warranty from the dealerships and your planming to keep the car another 3 years then they can be worth is (Even with the policy limitations)

Full Manufacturers Warranty - Additional 36 Months after original 36 months...
Make sure you read the documents etc as there are some KM exclusions (PM me with your email address if you want me to mail you the extra cover PDF)
***Does not include Roadside Cover***
R32 - AUTO /MANUAL $1417.95
GTI - AUTO / MANUAL - $1417.95
1.6 COMFORT - - $1038.00
1.9 TDI COMFORT/TRENDLINE - $1269.24
2.0 FSI - $1038.45
2.0 TDI - $1269.24
...
The price I have been quoted from my local dealer for my 2007 Passat 2.0 TDI DSG wagon is $1,950 and they said that anything lower than that must be for a used vehicle warranty.
Can anyone confirm whether the "2.0 TDI" price quoted above is only for certain models (Golf, Jetta, ...) or whether it should apply to all 2.0 TDI's eg my Passat, for example?
I'm also under a bit of time pressure as my original warranty expires next week!
Appreciate any thoughts (apart from I should have sorted this out earlier!)
Regards.

The other dealer who can "beat that price by $100" has not returned either of my phone calls.
I'd like to find out if I am chasing an unrealistic price for a Passat TDI DSG wagon (if the prices mentioned in this thread only apply to other models as it seems like most others in this thread have Golfs).
Should I be asking this in the Passat group?
