are all these extended factory (or I assumed it's dealer provided) warranty are basically the same, outsourced, 3rd party used car warranty that we often get when buying used cars off dealers?

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Has anyone bought an extended warranty from Southern Classic in the last few weeks that can confirm what price you paid preferably on a DSG equipped vehicle if that makes a difference.

Hey Everyone,
Just read through this entire thread.
Has definately answered a few of my questions.
Just hope the deals that were negotiated through the members of this forum (great work guys!) are still valid, when I'm looking to buy an extended warranty around christmas/new years.
Thanks to everyone who contributed
EDIT: Just have some questions that have come to mind...
1. Just to clarify/confirm - from what I have read in this thread, the extended new car warranty applies to the vehicle itself, not exclusively the registered owner of the vehicle at the time the extended warranty was purchased?
2. If the answer to question 1 is yes - If the registered owner of the car is a company because it is a leased car, does that complicate things? What would be the process of purchasing an extended warranty if this is the case? (I'm planning on purchasing the car at the end of its lease)
3. General clarification on the finer details of the warranty, ie what is covered / what isn't covered & how warranty claims work, etc. I assume that should be answered in the PDS. Is the PDS posted earlier in this thread still valid or has a new version been released? I'll have to give it a read.
Thanks sooo much in advance. Anything that can be answered would be greatly appreciated.

So they were very quick in rejecting it.
Also, the guys at the service dept said that Allianz will reject a claim for any car that doesnt have the proper servicing history. He said he's seen this happen quite a few times for engine relatd issues.
Thats my only experience with it to date and hopefully my only experience ever!

If so, was it under extended or original manufacturer's warranty?
Sounds like they've bungled something up in their internal management process.
In either case, it would have been covered by one warranty or the other!!!

The failure occurred before the extended warranty/insurance policy took effect.

No.
Yes, and you will not void the warranty.

and if you changed oil more frequently than their 1 year/15,000km interval there will be no sludge. Anything prematurely worn out or broken get repaired under warranty by your dealer, no worries.Last edited by Transporter; 05-10-2010, 08:34 PM.Performance Tunes from $850Wrecking RS OCTAVIA 2 Link

I'm not sure why people concern themselves so much. I'm "suitably qualified personnel" but I find it simpler to just rock up to the dealer every 15,000km & get the job done. 45,000km worth of services has been <$1000 so far. I don't think $500 a year is a huge amount to pay to keep your car maintained.carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic
