Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Sorry stupid question again.. The dealer sent me an email selling the extended warranty to me before I take delivery of the new car in two weeks time. From reading the this forum, I take that people are buying the extended warranty at the end of their standard 3 years warranty?? They quoted me a discounted price of $1900 for a Tiguan.. down from RRP $2212. That sounded like a rip off to me. Can anyone provide any feedbacks?MY11 Tiguan 147 7Sp DSG, Black, Beige Leather, Sun Roof, RVC, APR Stage 1

Call Southern Classic and get a price and compare.
If this dealer is going to be servicing your car (and i'd think hard about going that route....) it would make sense to buy extended warranty through them as well. BUT only if they price match. I rang quite a few dealers and Southern Classic were easily the cheapest. They aren't doing me a favour - they are making $$$ still - so your dealer should be able to at least match. And yeah - you can buy it any time up to the day your 3 year warranty is over. The only reason you would buy it now is to avoid any price rises in the next 3 years.

As others have said, the only reason you would buy now is to hedge against future price rises. Otherwise you're best off waiting until near the end of your current warranty to buy it. If you trade it in or write it off in the meantime, you won't have wasted your money on an extended warranty.07 Jetta TFSI | 18" Charlestons | Blue Graphite

page 8 general Conditions. Except it appears that if you have made a claim then you can't get a refund? (part d)
2. Transfer of the policy
If during the period of insurance you privately sell your vehicle to a person other
than a motor vehicle dealer, cover under your policy will continue with the new
owner, provided that:
a. you complete the transfer form contained in the back of this policy document
in accordance with the instructions provided; and
b. the person named in the transfer form as the new owner observes all the
terms and conditions of your policy.
3. Cancellation rights under the policy
a. In addition to your cooling off rights, you may cancel the policy or any part of
the policy at any time by notifying us in writing. If the policy has been issued
to more than one person each person must sign the notice.
b. We have the right to cancel this policy where permitted by law. For example,
we can cancel:
• if you have failed to comply with your duty of disclosure, or
• where you have made a misrepresentation to us during negotiations prior
to the issue of this policy, or
• where you have failed to comply with a provision of your policy,
including the term relating to payment of premium, or
• where you have made a fraudulent claim under your policy or under
some other contract of insurance that provides cover during the same
period of time that our policy covers you.
c. If you or we cancel the policy we may deduct a pro rata proportion of the
premium for time on risk, reasonable administrative costs related to the
acquisition and termination of the policy and any government taxes or duties
we cannot recover.
d. No refund will be provided if an incident has occurred which may rise in a

Thank you all. I think what I will do is wait till I am close to the 3 year and call Southern Classic. Forking out enough money for the car now, don't want to pay for something I don't need for 3 years.MY11 Tiguan 147 7Sp DSG, Black, Beige Leather, Sun Roof, RVC, APR Stage 1

+2 for doing business with Kim at Southern Classic Cars, Wollongong.
I got my extended warranty for $1325 (I think from memory) just 5 days before it expired. I drive a Mark V GTI Golf 6spd. I couldn't fault Kim, her service was impeccable.. she answered all my questions and followed thru with everything she said she would!
Good on you Kim and thanks

I rang Southern Classic yesterday (Friday) and asked to speak to Jaz but was told she's on leave (again) so I spoke to Mario who quoted me $1800 for the extended warranty on my 07 GTI with DSG. When I mentioned what some of you have paid he said it's gone up but he dropped the price to $1500.
Has anyone bought an extended warranty from Southern Classic in the last few weeks that can confirm what price you paid preferably on a DSG equipped vehicle if that makes a difference.
Thanks.MY08/DSG/Recode Stage 1 Remap/161.7kw/Eurojet DP.
