I'm currently in the market to do the same thing with my GT, trading it in for a GTI.

Just interested on what kind of deal did you get (what were the GT options, trade in value, and what GTI did you get in return, and the price offset )

I'm still not sure at this stage whether to go for a 2nd hand MY07 or a dealer ex-demo MY08 ( price diff up to $8 - 10k )

And how do you find the GTI compared to the GT?

1. Were these numbers taken at the wheel? (one can hope )
2. Any figures on impact to fuel consumption?
3. Is it possible for the dealer to accidently "overwrite" the ECU program during a service (ie if there's a factory upgrade they need to perform )

The figures are flywheel figures. You're not going to get an increase of 50kw from just a tune on a 1.4.

There's no such thing as a free lunch, extra power comes at the expense of more fuel and is entirely dependent on your right foot.

No it's not possible for the dealer to "accidently" overwrite the CPU but they can flash over the CPU when performing a upgrade. If this occurs go back to the APR dealer and they reflash you.
