RCD510 compatibility question

I recently purchased a RCD510 but it didn't come with a security code. Is one needed for the unit to work once installed? Cheers.

The seller will need to contact their dealer and request the code. You'll need to send him the serial and model number from the unit however.

I started a thread asking this question, but thought I might try in here too.

I have a 2009 Caravelle with an RCD200 head unit, and was wondering if the RCD510 would fit straight in?
I've done a LOT of googling and searching on forums, but have found nothing specific to this query.
I have a feeling that because the RCD510 facia is round and the RCD200's is square, it won't work.
I did see a T'5.1' with one installed but these new models have the rounded facia plate.

Can I retrofit an RCD510, or if not, what other OEM head units are available that can do the same thing?

Yes, i can agree that it does work.

the RCD510 is in, and it works as expected.
measured the draw with the rcd300, and it was 0.640A (640 milli amps).
with the RCD510 in place it was 1.8A (as expected).

after the relay install, with the RCD510 installed, and turned off, the draw was back to the previous reading of 0.640A)

Hi all,
Sorry to re-hash this thread again but it's been extremely helpful to me in sorting out my RCD510. I just wanted to check something in regards to the draw of of the RCD against various versions of the canbus. I've got version "H" and the maximum it's drawing is 1.0A. Obviously this is nowhere near what Jason was getting above so it leads me to ask 2 things:
1) Is 1A still to high a draw to be on the safe side against a drained battery? (at the moment, I'm doing the old "pull the fuse" trick until I'm 100% certain one way or the other.)
2) "L" type was the earliest version of the canbus that will guarantee no flat battery, If 1A is considered safe enough draw it would seem some earlier models may not require the canbus upgrade, Or, does it mean that, as newer models come out, the battery draw progressively drops until version "L" and beyond, keeping it at a steady .60A?

Would be very keen to hear other people thoughts, especially as it could save me (and others) close to $150 for a new canbus.

has anyone got any tips on the aux in install? links to what i'd need to buy? I'm slowly going insane using an fm tuner :-/

i've been trawling ebay, even considering spending megabucks to get an aux in video working with a reverse camera

re: my above question. I ended up getting a guy to come out and retrofit one to my centre console, cost me $100 but well worth it. He plugged it into the back of the stereo somehow??

Function button after RCD 510 Retrofit

Just wondering if anybody got this button to work after installing the RCD 510?
Its the button on the steering wheel that allows you to change from AM-FM-CD-AUX.

Its the button on the left side of the steering wheel that allowed you to change the mode of the radio. IE AM-FM-CD-AUX-AM ect. The symbol was changed from a circle to star late 2005
