RCD510 compatibility question

What iv'e noticed is the unit will take 3 times longer to power on if you start the car after a few hours , if you running around stop start it comes on instantaneously its been in about a week now , Im happy its not draining the battery.

Now to get my bloody skoda bluetooth coding right to bring the phone menu up on it ! thats my biggest drama !

so i guess were talking about an RNS510, NOT an RCD510 here ?

my RCD510 always boots up immediately.Everytime, without fail.

No The RCD510, It boots up instantaneously but its slightly longer when you haven't used the car in say an hour

I've found them both to have long-ish boot-up times. The RNS510 is obviously longer, but the RCD510 is certainly longer than the RCD310.

its always on and running within a few seconds of starting the car / turning the ignition on.

certainly doesn't seem like its taking any longer to start up than the RCD300 it replaced.

How much time elapses between you opening the drivers door and turning the key?

No more than about 5 seconds from disarming / unlocking to opening the door.
Then there's the wait for the glow plugs. Maybe another 5 sec or so.

But even during the wait, it poweres on fine.
And off again when cranking. (but that's expected).

The RCD510 has never had any kind of delay in startup for me.

Just wanted to say thanks for this thread, i followed it all to a T and now have a working RCD510 in my MkV GTI

Has anyone retrofitted the Aux IN port that is fitted in the Passat R36 (ie where my RNS came from). Whats involved in it?

i didn't set up the aux in on mine.

(i figure with 16gb of music on SD card + 6 discs i would have enough)
the 6 discs can be loaded with MP3's too


however, it won't be very hard to set up the aux in if you want it.
there are a bunch of off the shelf solutions for doing just that.

Yes, it will be required when it is connected to a new car. Is it written at all on the unit? A lot of the newer cars actually no longer come with the radio security code, as it used to be inside the owners manual, the thieves would then steal the unit and the manual
