So now that you have modified the B'Geezuz outa your pirelli, who are you going to get to insure it? My insure GIO said they would be unable to insure my Pirelli with mods.
And for the record i am going to do the same mods without the brembos. I am considering Eibach Pro kit seeings as i have already the springs. Not real happy with the springs because it rubs on the guards from time to time. So i'm considering the rest of the kit, Pro Dampers and front and rear sway bars. Anyone got any experience with this? Maybe i should go for coil overs? Eibach Pro Dampers are $1000 and the sway bars are $325 each?
How much are KW's Coil overs??
Good mods!!!! What sort of power are you making now? Have you considered fuel pump etc? i'd say you would be up around 200+ kw at the wheels!!
2014 Audi Q5 Quattro 2.0TDI H&R springs (Vossen VF 20" wheels on the way)
2013 Skoda Fabia vRS Black KW V1 coilovers, CAI Tuned by TMC Motorsport

Well I'm with SGIO, and they told me they reckoned it would be OK.....
Dunno, I guess I'll find out eh.... The chick on the phone did say the one thing they don't really like is modified suspension, but it should be OK..
To the other poster.. KW coilovers are costing me $4500 fitted. Those are the V3s... V1's can be had a lot cheaper, about $2500.
How much power? I'm not really sure. APR quoted 229kw with just the tune, so I'd say with the exhaust it would be up around 240kw/440nm..... Or so.
It's MORE than enough grunt... Most, if not all of the money I'm spending on it is to make better use of that power! (suspension/brakes etc)...
I can only imagine what the stage 3/3+ mods are like. 300+kw.. Mad. What I've got is more than enough for a street car.
Insurance is only good if agreed on paper, not over the phone. Also they have an out if it doesnt comply with ADR's, state regs etc.
In the past I have got engineers certs for mods, lodged a copy with Vic roads and Insurance company.
I DO know of chaps who have been BIG out of pocket after an accident, even not your own fault.
Play carefully

I love it - fantastic mod list...more comments on the full APR exhaust please...thinking of doing the same myself soon
Have you got a Pirelli Polo now or something? Prob a bit hard to compare the two lol
Yes, as for the insurance side of things.... I have my wheels specifically listed as an accessory on the policy & I have discussed the mods with them (RAC) and they have noted it all on the policy. I made a point of getting them to check with the underwriter etc as well, and they assured me it's all ok... Hope I never have to try & find out the hard way.
Absolutely make sure your insurance company accepts your mods in writing. there will be an increased premium for sure, but if its not in writing, expect them to reject any claim when it comes through (its the way of the new economic world!!)
My modded S3 is with RAC (surprisingly) and my modded GT-P is with CGU (via a broker)

Yeah, I'd better give them a call I spose.
I'm not so fussed about the mods themselves being insured, but it'd be a bit rich for them to refuse a claim where say, I dunno, I ran up the of somebody because I wasn't paying attention... The fact it's heavily modded didn't contribute to the prang...
Or if say, it got nicked (touch wood)... Sorry, you're not covered coz when we recovered it from the bottom of the swan river, we noticed your suspension was 1cm lower than stock...
I actually read the policy, and there's no actual mention of it in there. Sure they might try it on, but they'd probably fold if you sent them a letter from a solicitor.
I don't see how a mod has anything to do with 99% of claims you'd make anyway. Warranty claims maybe, but insurance?
Anyway you're right - best to cover your ass.
Now warranty, that's another story altogether I spose. Considering its been tuned, I guess VW could claim anything powertrain related was 'caused' by the tune...
Main reason I'm a bit skittish about putting an LSD in... There goes any warranty on the DSG (expensive)... Although, they'd probably get me anyway by telling me the 430nm that's going through the DSG is outside of its factory spec.
Oh well. At least the radio antenna shouldn't be affected. I've not touched that yet.
It's the act of not disclosing something that's the key here.
The mods themselves are almost secondary, as evidenced by some posts where people have disclosed, and the Ins coy have agreed to cover.
Insurance law from way back is based on "Uberrima Fides", the principle of "Utmost Good Faith", which means if they know all about the object and or person being insured, they can set a fair premium to cover the risk. They have the right to set the premium, and the right to accept or decline your proposal. You have the right to accept or decline their counter-offer, and you have the right to go elsewhere if you don't like them or their offer.
But as soon as you don't disclose something, they can justifiably void the policy if they would not have insured you had they known, and that can mean a rejected claim.
