What is the purpose of opening the boot if there is no one there to close itOriginally posted by Dubdabest View PostI guess what was asked is if there is a dedicated button/switch in the cabin that can pop open the boot directly without further intervention like in most asian cars.
In VW's case (or most euro cars??) this is a safety step of accidently opening a boot during motion on the road, etc. by just unlocking it then you have to physically get outta the car and press the boot switch at the back to open it.
You can unlock the boot and then open it from the back, probably something that could be done when the boot is being loaded and before the boot is closed.
There is a choice of systems. You can have the low tech solenoid or cable release system used by many car manufacturers or you can have a high tech system with auto locking and unlocking along with the inability to open it accidentally at speed.website: www.my-gti.com

Yeah, directly under the VW symbol in the recess for the number plate.....took me about a week and I found it when I was washing the car!Originally posted by Big Yellow View PostI didn't think there was a button on teh boot of the Jetta
Didn't know about the door unlocking though. Was under the impression that wasn't activated in mine.
Makes sense to lock the boot automatically though.Graphite Blue TDI| DSG | Leather | Bi-Xenons | Custom LED inner tails | Black Forest TAI | OSIR Pod & New South Boost Gauge | Bluefin | Projector Fogs | RNS510 | Skoda Bluetooth | Eibach Pro kit Springs| Full LED interior|US GLI paddle shift MFSW|Carbon Vinyl wrapped trims|Colour Coded Votex Body Kit|

mate, it was just a simple question. chill. And I never said I wanted one. As I have said in my previous post, my old Accord euro had it all "built in" as well like my jetta but where the difference was between the jetta and the euro was that the euro had a small lever on the driver side, on the floor, just next to the rails of the driver seat that you could pull to open the boot from inside the cabin...the jetta did not have this but I asked the question because I may have overlooked something that was there but didn't see...Originally posted by Maverick View PostOnce again, press the unlock button on the drivers door (twice if you have selective locking). The person that is wanting to open the boot presses the button on the boot and it opens.
How hard is this, why do you want additional levers when the car has it all built in!!!!!!!
i was just curious. A simple "no" would have done the job tooLast edited by stephen8512; 06-03-2009, 08:39 PM.
