  • Key Fob - what does the middle button do?

Hi everybody, I'm new here, randomly stumbled accross this site while being bored at work, so it's become a great time killer now
I drive a 2005 Sportline FSI and by reading this site, I'm gradually starting to discover new things about the car I didn't know about. I guess it pays off to read the user manual. But I'm still confused as to what the middle button on the fob unit is for, the button that has a picture of a car with it's tailgate open? Answers would be great.

That's what I thought also, but it doesn't. So I thought maybe it served another purpose. Faulty maybe.

im pretty sure you had to hold the button down for a couple seconds. at least on mine anyway.

and in case you're wondering, it won't pop up by itself either, unless you mod it.

Is there a thread somewhere as to how to mod the rear hatch to open automatically??

yep, but not exactly sure where. try search.

I know Maverick has it on his blog.

It will require the use of VAGCOM and a spring or two.

Also if you don't already know, you can open/close all 4 windows with the unlock/lock buttons on the fob if you press longer (3-5secs).

I did not know that.. handy feature, I'll give it a go tonight.
Jesus, is there anything else I'm missing out on knowing that all other Golf owners know? And the button for the passenger projectile seat was where..?

That might be so, but someone correct me if I am wrong. If you only need to access to the boot and you unlock the whole car, you might leave it accidentally unlocked. Use the centre button to open the hatch and when you close it again, the car will re-lock.

Not sure about this but that would seem to be the reason for the centre button.
