You can negotiate the price with any VW Dealer. My experience is that you should be between $1400-$1600 for the 3 year warranty.

IBut even a high pressure fuel pump letting go wouldn't be cheap, nor would replacing the primary pump in the tank.

VW Extended Warranty

Hi All,
I sell extended warranties for another brand of vehicle. Among the brands I sell is Allianz, who I believe underwrites the VW warranty. The price of the warranty can be negotiated with the dealer selling the warranty. I think 2k is a bit too much to pay for the product (Im sure their cost is the same as mine), a price between 1400-1700 I think is reasonable for both the consumer and the dealership. You can buy the warranty anytime up to the end of the new car warranty, and of course normal handbook servicing is required to meet the warranty requirements(but of course all here service their car properly!). If you pay $1500, if you look at it as $500/yr, its a small price to pay..especially considering the cost of the electronics in the car, should any of it fail! I just bought a 2006 TFSI Jetta with 1mth factory warranty remaining so I warranted the car with the Allianz warranty, and I would never purchase a vehicle now without a factory warranty extension(or similar). I have had numerous Astra's(someone else mentioned Astra and repair cost), while not comparing GM with VW, but the electronics(German) are hideously expensive for what the parts are!
The other thing to be careful of is the dealership warranty. The warranty my dealership offers is actually not a warranty, its a "Mechanical Plan". It doesn't cover everything(ie doesnt match the factory coverage) and has a claim limit.We sell the "premium" warranty for about $300, many dealerships throw it in as a "6 year warranty", but the last 3 yrs isn't anywhere near as comprehensive as the factory type.
Just thought I would add my 2c worth.

Hi, I paid $1550 for the VW (Allianz) 3 year warranty for my new car - hope this helps. After reading this thread I am thinking that I could have bought it closer to the end of the original 3 year warranty???

AC can be $3500. DSG around $7000 or so for replacement.



If you do the chipping correctly the dealer will never know that it's there. Go the chip and then definitely the warranty.

HAHAAHA, try $15,000 for the DSG........And with all the issues my Jetta has had there is no way I'm going on w'out the ext warr.

The DSG DOESN'T COST $15,000.

The cost to buy one is less then $5,000.

The DSG is less then $3,000 on top of the manual transmission cost, do you really think that VW are taking a $10,000 loss on every sale of a dsg

Thanks for your input! I just recently went into a dealership and enquired about it.. as im 2 years into my factory now.. he did a quick check over the PC and said $2,200 (07 r32 dsg) im not the orignal owner, so he needed to check if its possible - then he called me and said he can do it, and perhaps a better price..

i will call around a few and get quotes, as 2200 sounds dear compared to the above cases..

any R32 owners purchase this, and ifso approx cost please?

No but you can bet they'll be making more profit selling a replacement DSG than they would when selling one in a brand new car.

I'd imagine they will have "replacement" DSG available soon too, rather than brand new ones. Surely there must be quite a number of DSG boxes being sent back to them and remanufacturered.
