I've never heard of one under 6 second and i'm always on the polo section... where did you hear that? I've only ever heard around the 6.2-6.3 mark.

      Right here above:

Its not the first time I've heard people quote this, and sorry its just not possible, my mates GT28 MKIV does around 5. But his car doesn't exactly shine on rolling starts either even with rebuilt trans and semi-slicks...

Petrina has a fair bit of work done to his Polo GTI, have you seen his for sale thread? It could be possible in his case (maybe a 5.8-5.9 ). For just chipped though, sub 6 sec is just not possible.

        here's his thread

Addd an LSD and semi slicks maybe, just adding power to a Polo can only get it so far sorry, when I see that time on a V-box or another accurate timing tool I'm just going to say that a polo does a low to mid 6 seconds 0-100 and a mid to low 14 on the 1/4, since that seems to be the trend for these.

              I reckon theres a 5 in it..

Have you actually drven a modded polo? If you can get a half decent takeoff and hit second gear, they really scoot in second gear..

It would have to be close.. Its a very flat 6 or a high 5 for sure..

Obviously i dont have the precise timing equipment but those numbers are very achievable..

Not that I have tried as of yet, but can you hit 100km/h in 2nd in a Polo? If you have to grab 3rd I would say not a massive chance of getting sub 6 secs.

100kph or ~90kph when you take into account speed error?

I know with my old N15 SSS Pulsar you would be just on the limiter at 100km/h (speedo), no such thing as affordable GPS' back in 2000/1 when I had that car.

How much is your speedo out . I've only done it once and found that it goes a little bit past 100km/h in 2nd gear, and my speedo seems pretty accurate (as per my GPS and driving beside a mate in his falcon ex-cop car). I didn't redline it, but it was certainly up there.

I've been in one yes (Blitzens) which was great and had driven a modded MKIV i.e. around 140kwatw and neither was a "5 second car".

My VR6 hits 115 in second I'm not sure that's something important either

it certainly is. If you have to change to 3rd before hitting 100km/h your 0-100 will be noticeably slower. the less changes the faster your time will be over a distance. Also, with a sprint to 100, it's better being at a higher rev range where the power band is (inclusive of N/A cars)

It's the reason the Veyron is so damn fast over distances, because the car continues to accellarate by itself during gear changes, eliminating any possible engine lag

Yea fair enough I didn't think of that, the Veyron is a 7 speeder and its one of the few cars who don't just work better with an extra gear but certainly need it

here is something to ponder ..... a chipped Tiguan would probably be quicker than both ........

slightly worse power to weight ratios but much much better traction......

Imagine how embarrasing it would be in your chipped GTI (Polo or Golf) to be beaten by a SUV .......
AWD drivetrain saps more power, and can sometimes cause an engine to bog down at launch - you can actually have too much traction...
                                Nothing to see here...
