Is it possible the Polo group is EVER going to grow out of the ... "We're faster than ..." mentality? I mean seriously ... is it not time to grow up ... even a little? (And you wonder why others take potshots. )

        Ive got both...Golf is quicker...no questions :p

But considering Polo cost more than 20k less....i have no problems with that in the slightest!!!!

Dave do you have any brothers, from my experience the younger, smaller siblings are always trying to outdo the older ones no matter whether it has a chance or not.

And an APRed Pirelli GTi will beat any VW in the range hands down. I have owned a 2005 GTI man, 2006 R32 DSG and now Have a pirelli GTi (apr) and a polo GTi and the pirelli with apr would do easy 5.5 to 100 and 400m in low 13's easy. I did a vag-com test 80 - 120 in my pirelli and pulled a 3.3 sec time!!! thats quick!!

That's the standard we should be using if we want to compare apples with oranges. Gets rid of differences in traction issues, , manul v DSG, gear changes, etc... (of course at a place that lets you go 120 legally).

A chipped Polo GTI will be very close to that, I am sure I have seen times of 3.3 or 3.5 secs quoted by some of the guys. But I do agree, Chipped GTI Pirelli > Chipped Golf GTI > Chipped Polo GTI.

If this is aimed at me I think you got my post all wrong Dave. When I said a DSG Polo will be 'faster', i meant faster than a manual Polo..... not faster than the Golf.

If this post was NOT aimed at me....well I don't know what the hell you are talking about. No one said the Polo was faster than the Golf.

A GTI down here in Melb with JUST a Revo flash did a 13.5s pass with slips to prove. we all thought it was some freak accident and had a KO4 in it but alas, just stock KO3 LOL!!

Which GTI did the 13.5.... the Polo or the Golf?

I can attest to my car doing a pretty fast 80-120km/h time.. definately around the low 3's... Its also does a 0-100km/h in high 5s..

But what does a Golf GTi with APR chip only run? We have heard of stock versions running mid to high 6s 0-100km/h

Besides the 1/4 miles does anybody have any acceleration figures with a proper timing tool like a V-box? These under 6 second 0-100's chipped polo are becoming less and and less believable every time I hear them
