Just noticed on the B&B tuning website that they claim 360NM from their chip+exhaust+intake+cooler!!!!

Hope that figure is correct as 360 would make us very potent!

Oh Maaaan, I've looked to get my head around how to do it and it's hard enough to even find the blower on these things! As far as I'm concerned if you're going to have a S/C then you may as bloody well here it sing.
I'm sure it would be engine out job. Here's an idea, stick up your hand if we should get together, pull POLAR's engine out and find out how to remove the pesky insulation?

We could also make a profit and sell it on to the TDI guys and call it... hmmm idlehush or something?

I too have diesel envy to a certain extent. But then again.... my car can pull 6 second 0-100's (just... 6.89) and thats without a tune! (but with no rear seats and stripped out like a mofo).

No diesels are pulling times like that as far as I know. They still hammer us petrol guys on fuel economy but then again they are heavier by 30-40kg depending on where u get the measurements from. Thats a fair whack of lard! but the diesel is for the heftier gentleman thats why it needs 350nm.

For those who want an update... my DEKA battery is still going strong and saving me about 11kg all the time. Also has over 700CCA for INSTASTART cranks.

LOL! Yeah, 30 - 40kg heavier - like their owners! [jkg!]

All that aside, those oilers sure do pull
I'd love the TSI to have that many torks and still rev to 7k!

              No, not yet.

              update 2/2/09

Discovered the acceleration portion of Vag com tonight, and with a normal load and only a few attempts I'm managing 7.5 and 15.7 quarters. I'm sure I can manage a bit closer to you TSI guys than you'd like, and I'm doing an extra change in the 0-100 quest. No girly batteries here.

With a blower AND a turbo that should be pretty achievable. I am also looking forward to see what the chip tuners come up with for "you guys".

Great work getting the tune organised Guy. Will you have a dealer in perth?

                    The tune is how much??!!!

I have to say that at $2500 is $1000 above what I am prepared to spend on a tune. At $1000 I would get it installed today. At $1500 I would wait to see what the first few users think and then get it.

The cost of the tune for you is in the development, installing it is virtually free apart from time. So it is more profitable to sell 20 tunes in Australia for $20k-$30k rather than just 1 tune to Tinto for $2.5 hehehe.

I don't think you will get many sales with that pricing IMHO.

Don't forget the added warranty aspect of Oettinger tunes.

Not much warranty with the "cheapies" should car go pop, and suddenly that $1000 isn't going to go very far....

But still that is definately a price that makes me stop and think....so I can appreciate your comments.

I see where you're coming from, Polar. I must say I uttered a swear word too.

Warranty or not, a big consideration is also bang for your buck, and I'm afraid that IMO at $100 per kW, it's at the far top end of the scale.

Even the more expensive competitors are around the $70/kW for TDIs (no names, no Chip Wars!). And upgrades that are on special (with warranty) are around the $30/kW (for GTI/Pirelli models).

There's always an upper limit to what price the market is willing to bear, and while no expert, I'm willing to guess that the profile of your basic GT owner is that they tend not to willingly purchase top, top, top end products. Performance is important to them, but so is price.

But I guess that when you're the only show in town you can set the price wherever you please.

Best of luck in any case.

I agree with Barney and Polar. I thought WOW but hey each to their own...

and just as a matter of course, a competitor to APR quoted me $1400 fitted for very similar power outputs. PM me and i'll be more than happy to forward you the email i received.

                              Sorry fellows,

The German retail price is 1390 Euro's including the warranty, our price is actual less than the German retail price.

We bring a product to market $300 cheaper than its sold in it's home country & we still cop abuse!

You also have to remember (and you obviously may not understand) the cost of the new dealer programming equipment, the German informatiak system (this is the system that issues the checksum's for each different car) - no one "owns" the tunes for these cars! (as in we have a local copy - much more involved than that!).

The APR will be less expensive, but a similar price to the current GTI tuning and offer the extra functions as well.

I think you need to look into the MED17 ECU pricing a little closer - It is not like programming an old Subaru or similar!

                              P.S. for comparison:

                              Der Abt tuning 1490 Euro
                              MTM tuning 1199 Euro
