Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

man, ive been trying to keep this as friendly as possible. from the start, i already said i was just after some information as im keen in engine tuning and technical stuff.

i never tried to make this into some sort of battle!

plus, Guy was saying i was basing all my discussion on the US cars, when in fact there are no Aussie figures to discuss. So how am i wrong?

This has nothing to do with GTILIN. He can talk all the crap about his car if he wants. I dont personally care who has more power. I am unbiased as I have neither APR or GIAC products in my car. I was only after some open discussion.

So if i have upset anybody, i apologize .

Righto, lets settle down here and stop having a go at others.
We should refrain from further discussion until Andrews figures are produced.
Shouldnt be too hard to put em up Terrence once you get them.
I cant wait to see these long awaited figures which by the sounds of them should settle this dyno thing altogether. Hurry up please!!!!

because there are so fgew setups of either company running in ayus, it is inevitable that comments/observations are going to come across as personal attacks...

either wya, Guy is working on making a useable kit for the Aussie market. He is the one jumping in head ifrst so we can read/discuss learn. Same as what Seb is doing the same thing, for a different marque. There has always been fierce competition between the 2. Its what happens when only 2 companies dominate the market, right?

The best way is for people not to sugar coat what they are saying. And as is always the case, anything said is met with scepticism. You usually only here negative accounts. The moment anything on the up is posted, oh that's BS. Props to the pair of them for understanding the 2.0T and pushing the envelope. If it was easy, every Joghhn's garage would be able to pull 50wkw safely out of the car right?

I havent dynoed mine and if I ever did I wouldnt bother posting it on here.
All I know is that my GTI is extremely driveable with stacks of torque out of corners and that is what I am interested in and not straight line stuff. That to me is booooring....
Who cares who has the most poerful GTI in Oz cause by the looks of it you can get awesome figures by fudging the dynos. Dont know why you would bother though??
Once again Guy, congrats on the readings. Cant wait to see how quick that thing is one day!!
                    Cheers!!
Thats because a dyno is a big ... fat ... marketing tool, and in these circumstances it seems to be an incredibly effective one!

Well its not incredibly effective when no one else has one. On the website it says its still in development.

Plus, you guys have to remember that GTILINs car is a DSG, which is supposed to handle less power than a manual box. Guy, I'm assuming yours is manual?

So really, comparing the two is completely different.

Hence, my point again, im not trying to start a war between the two, just after facts!

Sorry for my "lack of response" I just had to deliver a car (Golf GT) and pick up another.

Other stage 3 kits on GTI - no only mine, we have 3 standing orders for 05' models but we have not done the software yet. We also strongly recommend the cars use uprated brakes / differential / suspension modifications to their car firstly - probably the opposite to the way to some tuners. (ie build a drag S3 & downsize the brakes & use it on the street).

Just FYI, we delivered our 12th APR stage 3 kit for the B6 A4 (just fitted in Melbourne), the MK5 will move into its own when they start dropping out of warranty.

You might remember that we have several of our GTI 240kw kits installed around the place (and that is just a little turbo) - all of them on three different cars, in three different places make in excess of 200kw @ the wheels (search - the dyno's have been posted, unlike yours) - are you claiming all these dyno's are bogus as well?

Still waiting for you to post up Andrew Lin's dyno - we all want to see the "most powerful GTI in the country" Let us know if you need help.

P.S. - If I don't reply - don't call it a "lack of response", we are hell busy modifying cars here, so I'm not always in front of the computer.

If that is the case (yes - ours is a manual) - his car is producing masses more HP than mine. A DSG normally does not handle as much horsepower - so it must be like a space shuttle with 4 doors. DSG or not, thats 20kw more than our car ever produced on "pump gas" even with a smaller turbo

All the more reason to post the dyno up! But it's starting to sound like the dyno may not exist now ? -

Mate, i never said his was the most powerful GTI in the country. That was the title for your thread!

Like i said in my post above, Andy's is DSG. Can your stage 3 kit be fitted to the DSG?

And I never said all dynos were bogus!
