Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Down here in melb we have a VF Engineering RSR kit in the process of being installed. That should be BIG!

Id be a bit concerned at running that power on stock internals?

Don't be concerned but yes, long term running on the 104 file without rods won't be a good idea. If you want to do a drag event or similar, no problem - the car is a daily driver & its all production parts & production software, so its not like a one off file or custom stuff in any way.

Its a daily driver - does 150km a day (in traffic) - no problems commuting on Race fule (except the cost )

We will be building a new motor next year so we can run a lot more power than that. Stronger rods & maybe lower the compression a tad as well - we want to run a sprint series in it next year.

What ever happened to that other RSS / RSR kit down there in Melbourne (Andy Lin ?) did he ever get his car to a dyno?

230 odd , its amazing isnt it , race gas and some timing somehow gives you 23% more power .

you can't use race fuel on the streets can you? pretty pointless to dyno on race gas when its not used daily.

Unleaded race fuel is 100% street legal as far as I know.

It is the 2008 control fuel for the ARC (all street registered cars) and is CAM's legal for Targa Tasmania - so I can't see them running it if it wasn't.
