Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

The power is deceiving - nail it in second gear from around 40 km/h and it just whooshes around the dial. It' something you have to get used to - all VWs build speed in a different way to a Japanese vehicle.
On the boot liner - I have the factory one and it's good. That aftermarket one you have found was not around else I would have bought from them - as I have one of their liners in my other vehicle (a Jeep) and it's been fine.
The lip around the edge is the most important feature - to stop spills getting out.07 Jetta TFSI | 18" Charlestons | Blue Graphite

I am thinking of getting the rubber boot liner. the Dealer wants about $160 for theirs but I found one on eBay for $99 + shipping. Looks good too http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Volkswagen-Je...1%7C240%3A1318
1. Low lip mostly rubber (the cheapest),
2. Low lip hard plastic (the one I bought),
3. High sided, great if you have prams, fishing or gardening equipement etc

Silver is a classic, easy to keep clean, and does not show the scratches.
I think the most popular Jetta colour, followed by Graphite and Black.
I love the Platinum Grey, maybee because it is the new colour in the range.
Mine is Silver, and I just love it.
Smart combination with all the chrome trim.

I was at the Wiggles concert yesterday with my son and they had a platinum grey jetta there (VW sponsored the event). It looked fantastic! I am still sticking with white though but if I had seen a grey one in person, I may have gone grey.
Interestingly though, it had some very small side skirts that were black and not body coloured. Is this normal?2008 Jetta 2.0T FSI | Campella White | HP Supreme Tint | AVC9000 | Digital TV Tuner | Parrot 3200LS bluetooth carkit

I'm normally a "white" car man (I think about 80% of my vehicles have been white). I think the Golf GTI looks really hot, but white Jettas (only a different boot to the GTI, remember) and white Octavias did absolutely nothing for me. The Jetta looked a bit heavy around the rear, while a white Octy wagon just looks like a fridge or a stove.
Still, I guess it keeps the manufacturers and sales people on their toes trying to keep up with all the preferences and options2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

I am picking up the Jetta on Wednesday Woo Hoo!!
I dropped by and checked it out today. Its looking very nice and shiny in whiteThe strange thing is the side skirts are black and not white. I didnt even know the TFSI came with side skirts. Definitely need to get those painted...

Just picked up my new Jetta!!
Here is a pic for now. I will post more later in the gallery section.
Havent driven it much but its really niceIts deceptively quick too. I wasnt giving it much and when I looked at the speedo I was doing 90 already! had to slow down to avoid a fine.
One strange thing is that the leather front seats arent completely leather. the side where its close to the centre console is trimmed in fabric. Cost cutting gone too far I reckon...
I will post some more impressions laterLast edited by faisan; 17-12-2008, 04:21 PM.2008 Jetta 2.0T FSI | Campella White | HP Supreme Tint | AVC9000 | Digital TV Tuner | Parrot 3200LS bluetooth carkit

Heres a pic of the front leather seats showing the fabric trim.
Its not a huge problem but I just thought it was a bit strange.2008 Jetta 2.0T FSI | Campella White | HP Supreme Tint | AVC9000 | Digital TV Tuner | Parrot 3200LS bluetooth carkit

firstly, congrats on the car mate, very nice. some nice dark window tint would make that look really good IMO
as for the seat....wow thats odd
there'd be a reason for it and i would hope it's not because of cost cutting. it'd be interesting to know what the designers reasoning was. anyone asked about this??

The only reason I can think of not using leather there is if you are worried about the leather rubbing against the centre console.
I have not seen any other car like this though.
Tinting has been booked in for Tuesday. Getting 22% tint so it should look good2008 Jetta 2.0T FSI | Campella White | HP Supreme Tint | AVC9000 | Digital TV Tuner | Parrot 3200LS bluetooth carkit
