I read on an international forum that if you hold the - paddle shift, it will hold the gear, and if you hold the + paddle shift, it will return to Drive/Automatic.

Is this not correct?

That is correct. The + paddle actually has a little "Off" symbol on it as well. However, if you hold a gear for more then about 30secs (i think) it goes back into D anyway.

First post for me - I have pretty much the same car on order for delivery early Dec to SA (Blue graphite Pirelli with reverse sensors). There aren't many owner's pics around on the net, mainly the promo stuff from VW and it's nice to see some of these babies in the flesh !!

Also - is that the standard tinting for the Pirelli model in your photos? I understand it comes with additional tint over the 'standard' GTi but not sure on the details. I'm still trying to decide who to get to tint my windows - whether to go through VW or get aftermarket. Interested on your perspective about the tinting.

Any more thoughts now that you've had it for a lil while ???

Hi there timi,

I can tell you that you certainly won't be dissapointed. The windows that are "tinted" are using colored glass. They are on the back two windows, as well as the hatch. I'm actually getting my car tinted tomorrow(Friday), with 20% front and 50% rear. I'm only doing the rears, so that the QLD UV doesn't hit the interior too hard.

The APR chip is fantastic, and well worth the money! However, it does show up how ****e some fuels can be. I've just had to add an octane boost to a load of Shell VPower, so I shan't be using that again! BP, or Vortex is what has been recommended to me by Eurotune.

I've done some research on mods for the suspension, and whiteline had a good handling kit out for them now, but I would hang off until they release their Bump steer kit, which is due to hit shelves in Jan/Feb (source whiteline). I'm looking into a rear bar, Anti lift kit and the bump steer kit. Not going to worry about too much else.

No more photos yet...but I wll post some up once the tint is done...hopefully it turns out ok. I've had the car 5 days now, and I've been the tits off it, just racked up 1000k's tonight.

Anywho...keep us all posted on your impending delivery!

Go with the Solitaire, or direct the the people who do it. They tint about 3 Golfs (Golves?) per day, so they know what they're doing.
