Quite economical if you keep your foot out of it.
You'll probably find you've 'clocked' it.

I think it's about 100 hours worth of driving. When the trip meter 2 goes back to 0, so does your average consumption.

      I can almost guarantee it.
If you can, get Subaru to reset the ECU. Some say disconnecting the battery for 24 hours has the same result but I'm not convinced.

Give it about 3 tanks of fuel for the ECU to adjust. Don't skimp - 95ron won't have the same effect.

On another note, as has been said fuel consumption is largely dictated by how you drive,
Dad drove like the old man that he is. I drove the Liberty quicker. SWMBO borrowed the Liberty once for a 400km round trip down the coast & averaged 6.8L/100km for a trip that I usually get 9L/100km.

      Premium ( 98 ) fuel is 20c a litre more expensive than 91
There's only 10c difference but I get your idea

So IF going from 91 to 98 dropped fuel consumption from 14 to 11L/100km you are actually $242 a year better off on the premium

...I need to get out more
Yep, cheaper for me with 98ron.

And no, you sound perfectly normal to me

We have. I actually noticed it when it happened.

The car is on a lease, and all of the fuel consumption data has been recorded.
