hi all i was just wondering if there is any way i can adjust the height of my lights? I know they self adjust but i constantly keep getting flashed and was pulled over last night by police as they thought i was driving with my high beams on. When they checked them out the proceeded to say they where to bright, set to high and there for illegal after arguing for what seemed like an hour and telling them that are standard on my car from vw they decided not to give me a defect notice but instead a big warning that took them 10min to explain to me. I love the lights but the constant flashing is quite annoying any help would be good

Flash them back when they do, they're just stupid people that think you have your lights on high beam because they are bright. They meet Australian standards and those throughout the world, have you VW dealer check them as well if you want to make sure.website: www.my-gti.com

If you want to play it particularily safe, get VW to check them over during your next service and get them to put it in writing that they passed OK.
If you ever get pulled over by the Police again retrieve said document from the glove box, if they still claim it's wrong, take it up with VW, again pull out paperwork that shows they have tested and passed the lights as ADR compliant.

Sadly not all police are mechanically adept.... or understand the operation of these lights.
The auto leveller is prob the feature that makes them flash if you do 2 dips in a row.
from what I have read you can get them set a bit lower using Vag-com etc but why should you loose out on the lights features..

I can suggest another possibility - they might actually be set too high !
I suspect they are if you are constantly getting flashed by other motorists and hassled by the police. If you are driving a fair way behind someone on a straight level road is part of your low beam shining on any of the interior of their car (through their back window) ?
If it is then your lights are currently aimed too high. I suggest you get more assertive with your VW dealer and insist they adjust them so they are legal. I had to get really pushy with my dealer and go back twice, the first time they insisted they were OK when they were obviously not.
They are still a fraction higher than I prefer now, but at least now I'm not dazzling other motorists all the time.
The aim are supposed to be checked as part of the PDI (after they take out the transit spacers from the springs in the suspension), but the frequency I hear of problems with beam height indicates they often aren't. I wonder if a lot of mechanics still don't know how to check and adjust these factory self-levelling lights properly.2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

This is a thread I was going to start myself shortly as I too am being constantly flashed in my GTI. However, not in my Passat, which also has bi-xenons. Thus it must be my GTI which has a problem and not the bi-xenons per-se.
A curious thing though is that when I have my lights on in the GTI in day light I am still being flashed by others.
Time to get a service done me thinks.Man In Black (MIB)

I dare say, as mentioned they are out of alinement.
I mean the self leveler only works if they have been set properly in the first place. Its to fix them up if you put 3 lard arses in the back.
Also to the people saying you don't care or just laugh it off... In correctly aimed headlights are illegal for a reason. It is dangerous. I'm not saying yours are, but please get them checked properly.2008 Jetta 2.0 TSI

This is the first car I've had xenons installed and I've yet to be flashed in 5 months of ownership. If I'm behind another car the level of the lights never encroach the cabin of that car. The performance of the lights are exceptional.
If you're being flashed constantly then I suggest it's not a case of other motorists having to get used to them, more of the case that they're not adjusted correctly.

Doest matter if there are 3 lard a..s in the back or zero. The self levelling is the same.
They have a very sharp cutoff. You may be living in an areas where there are dips or rises. People "think" they are high when in fact its just the transsition.
