Thanks for the infro Purgi. I'm not sure if I am entitled to corporate discount, but I know I can buy through a fleet service.
Also, I was under the impression that the R32 came standard with premium paint (metallic or pearl) and came with mats?? Are there R32 embossed mats available??
I think CW wasn't premium paint but either way the spreadsheet that priced the car showed that premium paint was ~700 off. My mats aren't embossed but then that sort of stuff doesn't particularly bother me if it's embossed or not. I'm only putting my feet on them.

Hi Purgi,
I find this cost difference with the paint a bit funny since the R32 is supposed to come "standard" with premium paint. So are you saying that a CW should technically be $700 less. But i guess the requirement of the sunroof buggers that up!
Mate, I'm not an R32 owner, but I would second the idea of a low milage secondhand car. Being an engineer ( you that is ) I can appreciate you wanting a new car so you can run it in yourself, but I would also expect you are aware of the ring bedding theory with high combustion pressures, basically making the car labour for the first several hundred km's.
Whilst a demo car will most likely have been flogged, and this isn't the best for the transmission, brakes, tyres etc, at least the compression will be optimal, and it will most likely be putting out both good hp and better economy than one that has been babied too much.
Also, seems a good move to let someone else take the main depreciation!
I would have bought like this if i didn't have a car allowance that lets work pay off the car for me.
Nice choice, and enjoy shopping around. I've a few good contacts up here in QLD, and if you aren't finding what you want, they are only an e-mail away. you never never know, and two of the dealers about 2 hours outside of Brisbane are reknown for their amazing customer service.

Sounds like a Gary Crick Dealership....I have a friend who works there....and same assistance applies...only an email/phone call away.
Sure is. I found people out of town had to actually compete to get you to go out of your way to make the drive, whereas the centre city dealers "generally" didn't really have to worry so much as there was more walk in potential. And I'm not just talking about price, which is only part of customer "service".

I'd like to thank everyone here for their advice and input!
I may decide to go with a demo model - in fact I may try my luck at getting the one I actually test drove. It was a 3dr black DSG with sunroof. Currently they have it listed at $52590. Hopefully with some fleet discount bargaining I can get it to $50000 or even less.
In terms of financing, I may try hit up RACV finance as I can get a discount on my insurance premiums too. Anyone gone through RACV finance? The other option may be a BankWest personal loan. I heard they were quite good too.
Anyways, I'll keep you guys informed. Might head out to the dealer tomorrow and contact my fleet buyer to see what they can come up with too!!
