Potential R32 Buyer

Just got off the phone with a dealer from Barloworld Glen Waverley regarding the 5dr blue dsg with 1000kms. He said it was 58K drive away. considering what steve told me, that price seems way too high, though that was before any real bargaining.

he just sold a brand new 3dr black dsg, the only new one left at that dealership. so i think its only that blue 5dr, and the 3dr black demo left there.

I might have a look into a personal loan.

Forgot to add that I am able to use a Fleet company to purchase as I am a member of APESMA (professional engineering organisation). I believe it is called Fleet Management Services. Anyone dealt with them?

Any other engineers here that know if APESMA or Engineers Australia are entitled to corporate discounts??

I would say that associate membership to APESMA will give you fleet discount. Hit them for something similar with the 2nd hand unit.

Mine was heavily discounted with fleet discount being negotiated though my employment. Pre-delivery was dropped down to $750.00...from about $3k for an .:R

Steve, do you think I should go into the dealer requesting a fleet discount knowing that I can go through the fleet services of APESMA. Or just let the fleet company source me a deal?

Yep, Bill is at Barlo GW. He's a petrolhead, has raced karts, and knows his product. He can easily look up what is in the pipeline from the factory.

When I got my R32 in May, there were quite a number of Grey and Silvers in stock in their dealer network. I opted to wait for a Blue 3dr that was on a boat to QLD.

I went through Barlow and I don't believe they could touch stock outside of Barlow since I later found out there was a Blue 2dr in Penrith that I could have picked up. So try a few dealers and see what they have in their dealer network. They can also see what's enroute to Australia.

If you're entitled to the same Corp discount that I was, it's not unrealistic to expect to get a 5dr DSG for $55k drive away. It's 10% off RRP and $750 dealer delivery from memory - plus a few options like free premium paint, mats, etc.

I know that I picked my 3dr up for cheaper drive away than I could have bought a 2006 model 2nd hand from a dealer (and that's before you factor in stamp duty transfer on a 2nd hand car). It was a little under $52k

Also, I was under the impression that the R32 came standard with premium paint (metallic or pearl) and came with mats?? Are there R32 embossed mats available??

May try ring up Burwin today and Camberwell VW to see what stock they have. Anyone dealt with Camberwell VW before? Who should I be dealing with there?

Told him i could get fleet discount but he wouldn't budge (quote was from Jackson). He said this price was better than with fleet discount which i doubt!!

I initially bought from Camberwell, they lied to me about the availability of my car. when i bought it the car was on the docks awaiting inspection for compliance and 2 -3 weeks away. I wasnt in a great panic as i hadnt sold my car at that stage. i sold my old car privately that weekend and South Yarra had the exact car i wanted on the floor. i called CW to check on delivery date and it was 7 weeks away, 7 weeks !!!! so i exercised my conditions on my contract and got out of it, bought the SY car and had it that week, although that was fun too as "My" car had already been sold (though they didnt know this when i bought it) and they had to freight in the model i wanted from Port Macquarrie.

I dont trust Camberwell in short, but if they have the car u want on their forecourt just get it, u dont have to service it there anyway.
