  • Potential R32 Buyer

    Hi guys,

This is my first post on these forums, even though I have been reading through the wealth of information on these pages for a while now.

As my title says, I am in the market for a new R32 in the next couple of months and have a few questions that may be answered. I have used the search button but could not find the answer I was looking for - unless I didn't look hard enough!

I am aware that the new MkVI Golf is due out next year, so I was wondering when the MkV R32 would cease production. Will I still be able to get a new one, say in January? I am not really keen on getting an ex-demo, but if I am forced to, that will be the only choice.

I have also read about the corporate discounts etc., and found it a bit confusing as to what to expect come bargain time. Would I be expecting too much for $55k drive away for a 5dr DSG with no options??

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Terence.

R32 and GTI have ceased production and you can no longer factory order, other then what is coming in to VW dealers your only choice is secondhand.

      Thanks for the quick reply!!

Man, that is very heart shattering news!!!

Is there a way to see what new R32s are coming into dealers at the moment??

I've seen a few demos with around 5000kms on the clock. And from what the dealer told me, they have been driven pretty hard.

If you go into any dealer they can see what cars are coming in to all the dealers that are unallocated (ie unsold).

As you're after a stock car with manual you shouldn't have too many problems providing you're flexible on colour. Discounting may not be as forthcoming due to the limited supply.

I was hoping for one with DSG.

Hopefully they still have a few in either blue or black

Don't know what I'd do if I can't get one. Still can't get over the test drive!! I'm not sure what other car will provide the same thrills and that exhaust note!

          Thanks for the help Maverick!!

It's weird how fast things change. Barlo GW had a blue R32 heavily discounted only a couple of months ago, but I think they finally shifted it.

Go & see Bill Collins - he was very good with my purchase and if you mention my name I'll get the spotter's fee and we can have a nice time with it

Most of the R32s that I've seen at dealers are DSGs, not manual.

Burwin in Melbourne have a black demo. There were a couple of new ones there too (white and grey I think). No blue ones though. I don't know that there are a lot around, but there's certainly a few.

Mate I bought my 08 5 dr DSG R32 for $50k with 8000kms on the clock. It was bought private and the woman and babied it, all of it's 7 month life. She paid $68k drive away. You would think it was brand new other than the odometer, so why not consider second hand (if you can call it that )

And 55k dsg driveaway sounds a bit unrealistic. But I dont know what kind of corporate discount u can get.

                  Hi guys,

                  thanks for all your input.

I did my test drive at Barloworld glen waverley. And i've seen that blue 5 dr sitting in the yards for a while and that has 1000kms on it. I test drove a 3dr black dsg and that has 5000kms on it. I think they had them priced in the mid 50s. but not really wanting a demo.

will ring around and see what is available.

From people's experience, seeing that the MKV is coming to its end of cycle, should I be getting a bigger discount? Or not, since they are limited supply as Maverick pointed out.

                  Terence.

Is Bill Collins at Barloworld Glenny?? I dealt with Jackson Tan. I think he was new as he said I would know more about the car than he did

Sorry I meant to say DSG, most of the ones you see in the showroom etc are DSG.

                            Finance?

When someone lends money, they are not doing it for nothing. Someone makes a profit out of it, and it ain't you.

Is the rrp too much for a perosnal loan? Difference being that under finance, the car isn't yours (owned by the finance company or VW) but with a personal loan...it's yours.

Are you eleigible for Salary Sacrifice through your employer? If so, then you may well be eligible for fleet discount (not sure about 2nd hand, but worth a try). Sal. Sac. can be done on 2nd hand cars....try the search engine here...it's been done to death (very well)...so maybe wouldn't be a good idea to re-hash it in this thread.

How much do they want for the 1000km demo blue one?

I scored a brand new 5dr, DSG, Sunroof, Anthracite leather for $55k...on the road. Hope that helps.

If you chattel mortgage it, then it's yours, not the finance company or VW

I'm using VW Finance (chattel mortgage) but it pays to shop around. I've heard good things about BMW finance (so long as it's not a BMW), but at the end of the day, you'll need to work out what is best for you
