  • Brake disc rotor limits

Can anyone tell me the rotor limits for a 2007 2.0 Tdi 103kw? I think front is 22mm but what’s the back?

8mm minimum thickness. 10mm new thickness.

Rule of thumb for VWs, if it needs new pads, it needs new rotors.

If you want to be rid of the interminable black dust on the wheels, go for ATE ceramic pads, I did this a few months ago, best thing I ever did.

interesting, that’s vaguely annoying - I’m used to 3-4 sets of pads to a disc with landcruisers. Roughly how many km do they normally last? Not so worried about brake dust we live at the end of a 10km dirt road so there’s always a lot of dust!

Euro cars use soft metal on the disks and harsh brake pads - so that's why they chew through disks at a rapid rate and leave a monumental amount of dust on your wheels. If you replace the disks, go for a decent quality aftermarket brand like DBA or Bendix discs and then get a good quality ceramic pad like ATE Ceramic or Akebono Ceramic or Remsa Ultra Ceramic and you should never need to worry about brakes again for a long time.
