Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Aftermarket Stereo Troubleshooting Assistance

    Hello all,

I've recently upgraded the stereo in my 2007 Golf (with the half cluster dash) from the RCD310 unit to an aftermarket unit I purchased from an online store.

Everything from removal of the old unit to the new WinCE based unit has gone well, even the installation of the ISO cable loom and harness, GPS antenna and aerial connection. However there are 2 issues I am having with the unit and need some assistance and guidance with please.

Issue 1: Power On/Off not synchronized with ignition switch
I have made a few checks from the Ross-Tech website that has noted the the number 3pin in the cable loom can cause issues with the aftermarket units but can confirm that this has already been removed from the cable loom. Eliminating all physical processes, and not having done any other modifications to the car, will this issue be solved by the VCDS system prompts?

Issue 2: Stereo system Car Info
An additional feature on the Head unit is the additional information it is picking up from the cars computer including the door status around the car, open/closed etc. The drivers side front door is noted as the passenger side front door and vice versa. The rear doors are shown correctly and do not need to be changed. Would this be another VCDS system tweak or would it be something else?

Your assistance and help is appreciated wherever possible to these silly questions.

    Regards
    Mk5GTINewb
