Noticed the Newcastle herald had a write up on it but stated a new
diesel with 82kw 2.0litre and 4.5L/100km fuel consumption.

I'm glad they didn't change the look too much, just picked up my GTI 2 weeks ago...

I think the MKVI looks ugly. Too Audi'ish.

Looks too much of a family car, less agressive lines.

So apart from the pics I hear:
          • Little bit more power for the GTI (think Renault Megane/Ford Focus XR5)
          • R32 model gone because of fuel efficiency & emissions
          • GTI-R model replacing R32 in the range powered by turbo 2 litre 180kw+ lifted from Audi

Autocar have reported that VW will drop the V6 engine in the R-series due to upcoming EU regulations.

Instead VW according to Autocar plan to do a hotted up GTI with AWD (VW S3 ).

I didn't read it, I was told by someone, but it sounds as if its not exactly a well kept secret.

Personally I am not sure about it being AWD - I wasn't told that. It would want to have some boost to get the wheels spinning if that is the case!

But hey, its a golf, the only car more boring is a corolla. And proof is in the pudding with the sales of both models. Boring sells like hot cakes.
Amusing coming from someone who drives the sedan version of the Golf - you're aware the Corolla comes as a sedan too, right?

My current plan is to just put the R32 at the back of the garage when the lease runs out, and to use it as a weekend car. Doesn't matter what fuel costs in that case, as it wouldn't be doing all that many miles per year.

I wonder if we'll ever see the Scirocco? I think I'd like one of those more than a Mk6. Alternatively, I might even consider an Eos.....
