                  Needs more mk3.

The DMF was so rooted that it could be spun 20mm+ side to side, once the pressure plate was removed, ball bearings and springs fell out!

Not as difficult as a process as it looks, vw definitely took a step backwards with these cars compared to the Mk3 VR6

Just going to remove all the airbags and unnecessary stuff for now , sound deadening etc and maybe some speakers. Carpet might be going back in!

Got it all back together to find that all the exhaust manifold gaskets are done, new ones on the way!

Flat out few weekends, finally had some time to go to work.

Torque'd to spec as cliffo forgot the only tool he needed to bring.

Everything was running pretty smoothly. Got the car running, rough as guts again, but no exhaust leaks so a win on that hand.

Whilst running it blew a coilpack out. Like physically out of the head. Decide to pull all of them and plugs. Check what's going on, tighten and turn it over again.

Get to the last plug and it just keeps free spinning.

                              Whoops.

Managed to get it out with a screwdriver as it was still loose.

None in stock around here. So wait for dealership tomorrow. Hopefully.

Got an oem plug. Torqued it down to avoid another breakage.

Torque down the others and free spinning again!

Another one let go. Surely a bad batch, this was done by hand.

Back into the dealership to get another plug.

Put in new coilpacks to be certain. Removed some extra vac hose and resealed the dodgy pcv hoses.

Turn it over, fires first crank and idles perfect.

Put centre console back in, drop it down to go for a test drive. Car doesn't start. Code reading, unplug and replug a bunch of stuff.

Found out car won't start when cigarette lighter is plugged in..
