Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 4Mo putting rear of roof lining back after antenna mount replacement

God damm this has got me stuffed!! got rear of roof lining down enough for access to replace the antenna mount but getting it back into position is proving the be an *******!
Please don't tell me I have to make the lining loose in all directions so it can be pulled rearward, up and then forward so it will hook itself to the metal ridge ---- I can't see any other way.....

    HELP

Yes you need to remove the entire trim as the back of it is rounded and needs to be hooked into position. You will damage it otherwise Sorry to give you the bad news.

Ok got the roof liner loose enough to get the rear of it into position, fairly easy job all up took me about an hour. Those plastic covers on the baby capsule anchor points look a big marked/sun damaged thats the next project when I work out how to take them off as they're on pretty good....
