  • Leak down test advice

Is it ok to do a leak down test with the top intake manifold removed? I need to do it on a 1.6L mk4 golf AVU engine code with the 2 piece intake manifold and the only way to get proper access to the spark plug holes is with it removed.
I assume it is ok as if the piston is at TDC both exhaust and inlet valves should be closed and seal.

    Thanks

It's probably better with the manifold removed as it will be more evident if it is leaking down past the intake valves.
