What cable, the plug lead/coil lead? Should just pull out, they will be firm.
You don't need the plug socket unless the plugs are heavily recessed, and if they are you can use a telescopic magnet toll to pull it out (you should have one if you're working on you car, but then again you should also have a plug socket)

I think the special tool hooks under the connector so you don't pull on the plug lead & wreck things.Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

You need the tool so you don't pull on the ht leads and ruin them. Leads are a couple of hundred a set. The special tool is $12 on eBay. Surely a no brainer?sigpic Camden GTI Performance. VW / AUDI Specialists
