Gosh I'm terrible at keeping this updated, sorry about that guys!
Ok so since my last update I think I'd refitted the head and painted up the rocker cover. Well since then unfortunately I haven't gotten nearly as far as I had hoped Work being the main culprit. With a mass exodus of staff I was stuck working practically every day meaning the car was put on hold, that's last months excuse. This months excuse is a combination of work and being back at uni full time, thus again barely any time to work on the car (I'm actually writing this from my phone in a lecture after having worked last night night shift... :-/ )
Anyway, excuses aside, progress that has been made is head is on, turbo is on, dump pipe has been made injectors wired up and ecu installed. Intake to the turbo has been made and installed and oil and water lines have been made. Essentially I just need to fit the plenum, finish the exhaust and finish the intake. I've also decided to add a mocal oil cooler so I'm also waiting on that to arrive till I can finish up.
unfortunately all this means that the car won't be ready for day of the Volkswagen but I promise I'll bring it to A meet up as soon as it's done!
Pictures will follow... Eventually
Sorry again for the complete lack of updates!
Yeah keep up the good work mate.
thats quite a good pace you got there despite work an uni !
anyways youv gone further an quicker than anyone else has in this period of time. (feel free to correct me on that anyone)
Ok so as usual long delays between updates, but first some photos from progress as of late. Much more progress has been made since these photos, unfortunately i dont have many more progress shots as i've been getting into doing it when i've been working on it and simply forgetting to take photos!
(Now you see it) Turbo Roughley mounted up (its now properly mounted and hooked up, oil, water etc)
Turbo... What turbo???
After having battled with it for near an hour it gets pretty heavy
mmmmm clean
mmmmm spec stage 3+ clutchey goodness
Off you go
ARP goodness
Dump pipe goodness, now all finished but again no photos unfortunately, eagerness once again getting the better of me!
Open wide (think this photo was somewhere from early on in the build)
Well thats all the photos i have, as i've mentioned a lot more has happened since these were taken. I'll update the progress in the next post!
Ok so i'm not sure where i left off, i think i'd mentioned i had the head back on suspension, gearbox etc.
Anyway a fair bit has been done since then. I've finished up the dump pipe and front pipe so most of the exhaust is now hooked up. This is one thing i'll almost never do again that said. Making a dump pipe in a shed with a car only a foot and a bit off the ground is not easy, having to guess then cut, get under car line up, mark, take to welding bench ( an old desk lol) tack, take back to car, test fit, repeat this process half a dozen times and there's one weld done...
Turbo is mounted up properly and intake is bolted up btw which is a pain in the ass to do. The C2 motorsports short runner intake is a very nice piece of kit, however getting the bolts that hold the manifold on is an absolute pain in the ass to do up. Took around an hour just to bolt on not to mention the difficulties in fitting the throttle body, routing the vacuum lines and sorting out where everything went.... anyways done and fixed now!
I also bought a Mocal oilcooler kit with thermostat from Bahn Brebner motorsport. To install this you sandwich it ontop of the standard oil/water cooler, its a tight fit but patience and time and it all fits, hopefully it should keep the oil temps down as the vr6 is known to run pretty hot even when standard.
Injectors have been installed and plugs re-wired, this was pretty easy, just a note if installing a short runner intake leave putting the fuel rail on till after mounting up the plenum, otherwise you've got to take the bloody thing off to get to the plenum bolts Many 's like this have happened
I also received a nice package from ECS the other day. A dual column pod with newsouth oil pressure and boost pressure gauges colourmatched to the factory dash.
I chucked the ecu i received from C2 in tonight and just to solve my curiosity to see if it would work (call me a pessimist) and a turn of the key and the dash lit up lots of warnings though but only expected things like a warning for no coolant, oil etc but to my joy no imobiliser light, hopefully it'll stay that way when i attempt to start it!
Anyway thats where we're at. Its pretty close to being done, hopefully startup day will be sometime next week! Stay tuned!
Got cracking on the upper section of the cooler piping today
Like the C2 intake manifold which is at the front of the motor, the piping will also be sprayed black and i'll either try and spray the silicone couplers or I'll just get black ones. Stealth FTW

Got to love it when it looks like it came from the factory like that.
Awwww yeaaahhhhh though it was all ghetto'd up with no exhaust, a temporary intake temporarily held together by tape, no coolant and no oil cooler thus an oil system slowly draining the sump to an old oil bottle (but still making enough oil pressure due to the sandwich plate having the thermostat)....
I can conclusivley say that Houston we have ignition!!!!!!! (only ran very briefly to be safe)...... awww yeah baby!!!! Now to de-ghetto it, finish it up and have a proper startup, warmup and rev
The sound of that turbo spooling even just on idle.... ohhhhhhh i cant describe how much awesome it contained
