Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • I'm back in business, and am close to completion of this project just waiting on a couple of things to arrive.

    some stuff that has come.

Stasis Alcon BBK 355mm rotors with 4 pots up front, stock calipers on 320mm rotors on the rear, Pads for both.

I think i am going to have these recoated black, and have the STaSIS in White, not feeling the red one silver, a little annoyed that Stasis have started branding the alcon calipers but whatever, they'll do.

And something 034 have cooked up for me.

got my dry sump system ready to rock, just got a sump from 2000MN to hack up and work with.

I'll keep you guys updated but i have been focusing a lot on the mk1 project and not so much the mk4 in recent months. That is to change now.

      • Im hoping to pull at least 420awhp, and i know that a preped bored and fully built 3.2 vr6 can handle those numbers. The GT35 should in theory be the ideal choice for a linear and torquey powerband with reliable drivability. The turbo is easily capable of those figures, and the driveline being built, should handle the punishment.

            • Nice. Heard a lot of great reports on the UM tunes. Guessing little adaptation for our fuel / climate etc and it'll be sweet. Great work mate. Had always thought I wouldn't be tempted to go Forced Induction. But times change. Guess just couple bad reports I had heard about people sorting out the tune etc on the ones which had been done previous here kinda made me little weary. So looking fwd to hearing your end results for sure.

              • FI, isnt anything to be afraid of mate, the issue is just what you expect and most importantly what you would want out of your engine.
half the cars or more are now being produce FI and for good reason, applying that to a NA car is as you would well know, nothing new, but it can require some work depending on which way you want to go, there are kits out there that go for 10k or less which will supply you with the means to make a fairly reliable lump of power, most quote figures over what i am aiming for. The difference is, i want to be able to do ten flying laps at full pelt around a circuit, without things going bang.
