  • Brittle vacuum hose

    Hey yall,
I replaced my stock diverter valve today with the apr R1 but when I was re-attaching the vacuum hose that goes from the throttle body to the top of the diverter valve it just snapped like a candy cane. I managed to use a bit of hose from my house mates air brush gun as a temporary fix until I can source a new hose or take it to a mechanic, I took it for a test drive boosting it pretty hard and it seemed to hold okay, I don't think there's much pressure going threw there any way. I was just wondering if any one else has experience their hoses getting brittle with age and if anyone knows of a kit to replacing all the suseptable hoses. On a side note I really like the apr R1, I don't get anymore flutter when releasing low boost which I actually kinda liked but I know is bad for the turbo. My car is stock at the moment but I am planning to get it chipped in the near future hence the R1. I am also wondering if a k&n panel filter would increase the "swoosh" noise when I lift off the throttle at all? I know this is a long post but if anyone has any insight to my questions I would greatly appreciate it,
    cheers

Those pipes don't last forever. A good plan to replace all the Vacuum pipes in one go.

Depending on where you are in Brissy, you have a few options for mechanics.

Or go to your local car parts place and get some pipe from them. 4mm inside diameter would be correct I think.

    Cheers

Thanks for the super speedy reply, I live on the south side of brissy but don't mind travelling a bit to get quality work done at a decent price. I'd also like to add the hose clamps VW used to secure the old diverter valve were impossible to get off without breaking, must need a special tool I guess, but I just replaced them with propper hose clamps from supercheap auto

You can pick up vacuum hose from Auto Barn for less than $5 a meter...

Jmac is in Runcorn if that is convenient. He'll have the stuff to do the job, if you don't want to get your hands dirty.
