      • good stuff lito. Car look great, when are you going to drop it a few inches?

Also in regards to the turbo, where did you buy it from / how much?

        cheers

Thanks, well it's already dropped 30mm on eibach/bilsteins, I want to go lower but I don't want to screw with the geometry and ruin the handling. As it is the front LCA's are already above horizontal. My driveway is on a bit of a slope so it makes the rear look higher than it actually is.
I got the turbo direct from frankenturbo, it's been sitting in customs since the 11th so I can't wait for it to finally get here.

          • i went the lowered spring option too, only got the rears in before i decided it was a useless venture. ordered FK coilovers, delivered from the UK for under 500$. cant argue with that!

If anything youll notice better handling with coilovers, especially if you can afford the damper adjust.

I'm pretty happy with how it handles now, I'd just be lowering for looks. I've read once you go lower than 30mm you introduce positive camber and move the roll centre underground and the only way to fix this is to get adjustable control arms which cost alot of $$

              • the lower you go, the more negative camber, i believe.

you wont get positive camber... but below 50mm and the mk4s geometry tends to go out the window.

                  Gave my car another wash...

                    Hi Lito,
I have just bought a MK4 and am thinking about getting those rims (replicas), do you have any photos of your setup on flat ground? Or any BEFORE you lowered it for a comparrison? That would be amazing if you could...

... also, what I did to my Golf today (Friday)...
.. I'll back up a bit first... Since buying my first Dub about 1 month ago (MK4 Golf), The main things I'm trying to sort out are some decent sized rims, and my central locking & keyless entry. I've already taken apart the drivers door and rear passenger door to do the "re-solder the cracked joints inside the door locking module" mod/s with success (a big first job working on a VW for the first time)...

... So Friday I bought a brand new genuine 'keyless entry remote' from VW Barloworld at Mascot, hoping to program it to my car. I've tried many variations of the "2 key method" without success, and there seems to be conflicting information on wether or not my car or comfort module is able to take/use the remotes... Is there anywhere that documents which comfort module's can use the factory/OEM/VW remotes? American sites seem to say that all MK4 ones can be programmed with remotes, even if they only came with "2 standard keys".

Here's the new VW remote I bought, I'm not bothering about the flip key with immobiliser chip until I get this part working first..

My first attempt at uploading a photo, hope it works ok...

                      • Flickr have changed the way they link to photos recently and it doesn't appear to work like it used to.

I just link to the static address of the photo and this seems to work. In Flickr choose Actions then View all sizes. Now click on the link for the size you want to show in the post (I usually choose the Medium 640 size). Now I use Chrome so this may be different for other browsers but with Chrome you just right click on this photo and choose Copy image URL then you can paste that URL into the forum post.

When you do this the photo will appear like so....

Hey mate, mine are replicas too. I don't have any pics of it at stock height with them on as I had already lowered it before getting the wheels. But I'll try and find some flat ground and tAke some photos this arvo. In my opinion I'd wait until after you've lowered it to get 18s, the look at bit silly at standard height, they really highlight the massive wheel arch gap.
