i've upgraded my exhaust in my Mk4 GTi to a magnaflow exhaust and upgraded the stock down pipe to a custom 3" down pipe with a highflow cat! so the full turbo back exhaust! it sometimes lets off a massive back fire from gear 1 going to 2, is that a bad thing?

You need Vagtacho I think it's called not Vagcom, it allows you to download the cluster Eprom and edit it with a hex editor, Graeme86 is the one to talk to for the details I'm just lucky enough to have him as a neighbour so get the benefit of all the great mods he does to his R.

Not sure if it is just the R, I think it is pretty much all VAG cars with a certain build of cluster and anything later, again check with graeme86 he can point you in the direction of all the info, there are dedicated forums for it.

Finally got around to fitting the rear sway bay... the front looks like its going to be a PITA so I will leave it till my ECS front susp refresh kit arrives.

looks good how big are the tips? 2.5 inch?

3" tips and piping is 2.5" the whole way through! i think the angle of the photo makes the piping look small because its curves up to fit the stock bolt on exhaust.
