Finally got some new tyres on the ABT rims I bought last year ... Had a hairy moment on Greenhill road when one wheel decided to become loose- of course I'd taken my tools out when I was cleaning the boot area to transport my old rims so had to leave Rolf down a side-street catch a train home, pick up my tools - you get the idea ... Brakes this weekend even if it is 42 degrees.

collected a yellow sticker over the weekend
only to have it blow off #racebora, so then had to go ask highway patrol for another so I was allowed to drive the car for the next week

I spent Sunday afternoon attempting an upgrade to GTI brakes only to find that my CV joints were knackered - fortunately I hadn't been able to remove the drive shaft from the old hub (even with a gear puller and dozens of whacks with a mini-sledge) so was not at the point of no-return - put it all back together for another week. On the positive side, I got to bleed the brake system and my rear brakes are working well from when I replaced them before Christmas ...

Hey guys,
Got an Ebay 3 inch Turbo back installed (bloody cheap and nasty)... Installed in Brisbane, but it did leak everywhere... I wont go to far into it... got gassed on the way from Brisbane to Yeppoon at Miriamvale, had to drive with all windows down... the car now has a name... Goebbels the golf... Got the car into the Yeppoon exhaust shop and they fixed it all up.. really good work guys
Anyway, I also played with the intake - Installed a chinese Forge copy... if you've got patience and can adapt and overcome then maybe its a good option... Lets just say they got the holes for the diverter valve return and the smog filter return arse about face.. No biggie. Installed a Forge Splitter, it is working well, and isn't obnoxious. No problems with idle. It mainly diverts most air back into the intake, and only a very small amount is dumped to atmosphere. Installed a K&N enclosed pod filter, which I custom mounted the airflow sensor onto. It was easy, just use the top of the airbox where the sensor is mounted as a stencil and use a dremel tool to cut out the plastic on the K&N to mount the sensor with the rubber grommet. It looks pretty sweet..
Anyway, the car is running really well, and holding a good 10Psi all the way through the rev range, only dropping off to 8Psi in low gears. I'm happy
heres some pics.

Cheers Gav, found a few other little things that needed fixing, but had a lot of fun playing around... Now I need to find where to route the Vacuum line for the boost gauge through the firewall, instead of ghetto routing it through the door... I'll do a search, but a quick reply might help even more. Cheers mate.

Both outer joints need replacing as far as I can see - I guess it's not surprising as Rolf is 15 years old this year(!) Tie rods are still good and the suspension refresh I did a while ago is holding up pretty well too. Working on it makes me realise how much I love the Mk4.

Will be interested to see where they go with this ...

could end up being expensive if it goes beyond stock suspension and wheels.
yeah fair enough, they are getting on.
I havent worked on many cars, but mk3/mk4 are a dream compared to others Iv played with.
yeah saw that! pretty interesting.
There was plans to make mine go fast, but not sure I will worry any more, too many km + throwing boost at it could get expensive quick

- not sure km is too much of an issue on a well maintained 2.0. It's a pretty robust motor from what I've seen - though if I went that route I'd be looking at a new gearbox I think

Haven't been on here in a while but the old girl is still going strong. Put a set of raxles on her and changed the gearbox fluid the other day.
Should put and end to broken inner cvs hopefully.
Also made a new tip for it but you can't really see it but here's a photo anyway haha
Also went back to oem headlights so my hella celis are up for sale cheap if anyone wants them
