Installed a Newsouth performance power gasket for the intake . Cheep n easy mod which sounds good in principle but really just another item to cheek off the list of bolt ons to ring every bit of powa out of the KO4
driving home this avo after driving for 40 odd minutes, the alternator workshop warning flashed up, then a second later a screeching sound. it went away just as it came, as did the warning light... pressume the alternator belt got a bit lazy...

Was it raining or had you just hit a little bit of a puddle? The reason I ask is because when I first got my car, when it'd rain heavily and I got water splashed up into the belts I had a similar problem. All my under-engine guards have been smashed off by the previous owner though. Did you lose power steering (sudden heavy steering)?
it was wet in syd today and was raining at the time so yeah i wasn't too concerned. more just surprised that it happened after the car had been on for 40 odd minutes, i don't recall a puddle and was going downhill. The warning message came on, then i turned a corner just as screeching started, then when i finished the corner light and screeching went off. didn't notice steering go heavy.
how many timing, fan, alternator etc belts are there?
didn't directly work on my car, but i spent about 3+ painfull hours tonight dismantling a faulty laptop to remove the motherboard so i could re-solder the power jac (connection had broken). felt amazing when the 50 million screws and cables went back on and it actually worked!
reason i did this is because i wanted a backup laptop as gavins kindly sending me over an ecu and vag-com cable so I can do some tests this w/e
Well, QLD's PPQ.com.au website had some new plate design on offer.
So as you do I type's in a combo and low and behold was avail. So thought what the hell I'll take them.
Once they are in my grubby hands and fitted up I'll throw up a new pic.
cleared my stupid airbag fault with a ross-tec vag-com cable
also got a fault code (among many others) "Maximum engine speed exceeded -- Engine warranty VOID! ; - )" haha
i think the better one was "boost pressure exceeded" the last time it was scanned
