The factory wheels are designed for spherical bolts, conical bolts may not hold it down against the hub properly - I'd be inclined to carry a set of spherical bolts with the spare if you've gone with aftermarket wheels that use conical bolts...

Hey that's some good advice. I'll have to dig out my old bolts and put them in the boot.

              • yeah think i'll do that.
got the tyre repaired (thankfully was repairable unlike last time...) and when i took off the steelie, looks like the conical bolts flattened the original ball seating a bit, as you'd expect.
real annoying thing is that the place i got it repaired at, seem to have superficially damaged the edge of the rim from removing the tyre.
was annoying cos they were in perfect nic no gutter rash. i saw it when the guy was giving it to me but no point having a whinge to him
                cest la vie

                • Swapped my Philips BlueVision globes for Xtreme's. The BlueVisions were ok, certainly a nice white light compared to the stock bulbs but they really didn't light up the road much better, hoping the Xtremes will be an improvement.

Does anyone still have the link for the steel shifter ends?
