                • Had a few parts turn up from England today Weitec coilovers, black front and rear badges and Forge boost hoses. Just went down in the garage and put the badges in and swapped a couple of the hoses over. The silicone doesnt have much play in it so its not the easiest job getting them on. Anyone know any tricks for the rest to make it easier? Will heating help at all?

                  • I actually used the invision kit from auto barn. I wanted to use DMS dans method but I would of had to order alot of stuff from car care products and I didn't have time to wait for it to come as well as ordering mesh kits etc.

So far the invision kit has worked well but the polish they supply is still to abbrasive for the second last step so I had some meguiars plast x polish that I used aswell which made a massive difference to the end product

                      yeah, they are great.

it added more noise though, and the linkage was hard to pull off, but with right tool, its fine

                      • Also got a wheel alingment last weekend and now time to get my battery tested to see if I should get a newie this weekend.

Next will be a good engine detail and all over detail.

Hopefully after I finish all this someone will buy it and take it to a good home

Forgot to give you a call back about this! Saw this missed call but was at work. I'll note this for when i do it

Left half of the underside of my car on canterbury road drive way yesterday...
Some little old lady had a good laugh at my expense though

Also picked up some Oettinger pedals and a set of brand new OEM roof racks... only found out when i got home that the roof racks are for a 2 door golf

                            Anyone want a set?

                              • Ok, so I bought a replacement centre armrest for the centre console from a wrecker.
Came out of a Bora that had been cut in half.

Surprised me that the armrest is actually shorter on the Bora than my GTI.
Since I only needed the metal reinforment, I went about pulling the Bora unit apart - abeit shabby from being out in the elements
(No glass on the half car)
Even though the reinforment is the same size, the mounting screws were different (torque instead of phillips heads),
the plastic and liner is a better quality on the Bora unit.

Perhaps the Bora was an earlier model and they went cheaper in the later models? (My GTI is an 02)
Also there is no view window on the passenger side to access the the mounting bolt.

Anyways all converted now, just surprised that there could be so many differences.
