    3. is for the flaps to work as in the recirc ones
    4. sounds like the pump in the passenger wheel well ( if you remove the fender liner you will see the pump )
    12. sounds like you are talking about the pcv? be ready for a shock when they ask for $150-$210 for a new unit which is also no longer produced, you may find ones that are sitting in stock and also becareful that the early and later cars use a different intake elbow. Alot of the guys run a catch can or just run a hose from block to intake elbow
    13. im pulling the original mk3 system out to replace if you want it it yours free

      Thanks for the tips.

Re no. 12, sounds like I will be making my own hose.

      13. Yes please. That is very kind of you.
Just wanted to fill the hole with something OEM.

            Thanks mate.

Am keen to attempt to make up my own but if that proves too time consuming, I will do what you have suggested.

              Thanks for the offer.

Have been meaning to put up a list in the wanted section.

When I finally get to it, I will pm all the kind folk that have offered me parts so far.

              Thanks again.

                Small update.

So last weekend I degreased under the motor. The cross member and sway bar were covered in years of crud.

Next we pulled off the rain trays/scuttle panels and removed a forest worth of leaves, debris and dirt.
For whatever reason, there was a tar like substance on both sides of the engine bay.
So the air filter came out and more degreaser was applied.

I can now see the engine mounts and all the alloy is no longer black.

Fitted a new air filter and moved onto removing the oil filter. Grabbed my trusty oil filter wrench and soon discovered that I wouldn't be able to remove it without a 36mm socket.

So i drained the oil overnight, next day i bought a socket and changed the oil.

It appears that I have mild leak from both the sump plug and the sump gasket, meaning they will both require replacement before road worthy.

New coolant hoses have arrived and I hope to fit on the weekend depending upon the weather.

Other than that I'm still waiting on more parts to arrive

If the VR6 sump plug is anything like the sump plug in my old 1.8l CL, suggest that you examine if it has a copper washer. If it does, try the sump plug without the copper washer, I found that solved the drip from the sump plug.

I tbought the washer is designed to crush to assist the seal.
I figure that if I'm replacing the sump gasket I feel I may as well replace the sump plug with washer

Yes it is designed to do that but I found that I could never get it to seal properly. Whereas, without the washer the sump nut by itself would seal.

I'd be tempted to take it for a roadworthy right now to see what else they pick as needing fixing so you can aim at those things as a priority (although it sounds like you're pretty covered anyway).

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Its used for the Central Locking there should be a Air Pipe that connects to It.

There is and the central locking works with the key.
With the key in the drivers door held in the unlock position, the windows go down.

The foam box is just sitting loose though. Anyone got a pic of how and where it should sit?

Under the bulb holder cover. My tail lights are different so I don't have that.
