  • O2 sensor options.....

thinking about replacing my O2 sensor, car has 300,000kms & no idea about service history so thought I'd do it while I'm doing a few other R&R jobs.

    Engine is a 2.0L 2E from a '94 GL

    current O2 sensor part number is 021 906 265 or Bosch 0 258 003 216/217 and it has 4 wires

Tooleys cant supply a direct replacement but they can supply a UNIVERSAL that I believe will need my factory connector & wires spliced onto it.

Nearest VW dealership quoted $518 while they where trying not to laugh, but wouldn't confirm the part number.

ECS have a multitude of O2 sensors but they all have a LETTER or TWO after the same part number.

Is there any difference in O2 sensors apart from the length of the wire, number of wires & connector type.

Do I just but the one that has the same connector & enough wires & disregard the AK or N or A etc that follows my existing part number

Hey mate. Im guessing your engine code is ADY.
if you head down to HSY they should have what you want for about $100

Your original part number with a R after it.

No, my engine code is 2E not ADY as far as I am aware.

Googled HSY and their website says they don't retail?

Looks like the 021906265R is a universal O2 sensor ? which I splice onto my existing connector

I take it you have used one of these....has it worked OK for you?

Hey Burgundy your inbox is full so I couldn't reply but wanted to say thanks mate, appreciate the effort.

Will give it a go......fingers crossed

Have asked a supplier to check the length of one for me & if it's Ok I should be on a winner.

        Cheers
