Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

            AAMI wanted to do a physical inspection. Dropped it off at my panel beater at 8am Monday. Told him if AAMI approves everything, to start straight away. Haven't heard since so I assume it got approved and they are working on it. Hopefully I get it back this week.

            edit; looks to be ready by Friday. Here's hoping, since I need it for work.

              Received it back last Friday, really happy with the job. Looks new. Decided to just pocket the money instead of buying new fender flares. It doesn't look damaged at all.

              I am also back to stock side indictors, aftermarket ones developed a crack and let water in.

                Small update;
                New taillights, the LEDs are blood red and not washed out as shown in the photos.
                LED front park lights and removed all the underside lighting and now just have a small subtle red glow behind the grille.

                      We could organise a meet there, plenty of space and there's a 24/7 maccas there.

                      • Anyway, next on the list is transmission service since I've been putting it off for a while now, so boring stuff.

                        Has anyone gone the suitcase delete route? Thought it might be an inexpensive way to get a nicer sound and lose some kgs.

                          • Currently doing the cluster mod.
                            So far;
                            Pop open the cover and take the green diffuser out.

                            Now make your own clear diffuser out of baking paper using the green diffuser as a template.

                            Install diffuser and close up.

                            Now off to get some globes

                              Cost me $50, great sound, no drone, one of the best things you can do I reckon. Wouldn't say there's any performance gains to be had though.

                              • Lights tested, pretty happy.
                                The gear indicator light does not work, and it's not the globe either. Oh well, don't really need it anyway.
