Its the gear shifter the part that you use, what this does is shorten the throw unlike the standard one, alot better precision and a better feel I think.

Well, well - something interesting has popped up!

I've been emailing Jim @ Dieselgeek more or less bugging him to make new shifters.

Last nite, he sent me a link to this: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3754082

Basically, send him a stock shifter and he'll convert it for you.

      Thoughts?

          Yeah mine too

Good idea, since I was dreading having to buy a new shifter if need be.

I too wouldn't mind a short shifter with reduced side to side motion but don't have a spare. I also noticed it has the "only open to US residents" thing there.

While one idea would be to get ONE second hand one, send it off, get it back, the pass your used one to the next person to send off, get back... and on till everyone has one. But that would be a time consuming exercise and a waste of postage.

Ideally we want to get DG to use up a few of those second hand ones he's buying off people to make us a few, send them out to Australia. (and if everyone were feeling particularily generous, we could then send our old ones back to him).

              Sound interesting or possible??

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Damn you and your 8 minute response time Steve!!!

Just a thought; Loon may let us take a few off his hands to send over then we can replace his stock with ours once we've done the changeover? Possibility maybe? I'll PM Loon myself now and see what he has in stock and prices etc. and relay that here when he gets back to me.

Sorry guys, they are not a very plentiful thing. Too many damn autos out there. I only have one spare one and 2 gearboxes, so I may need it for a conversion one day.

Just for the record, Bildon now sell a non-VWM shifter for 02A and J gearboxes. It looks quite good, and is pretty cheap Not tried one personally, though.
