Anyone got any helpful hints for changing the crack pipe on a vr6? Got to do mine this weekend as she well and truly gave up the ghost last weekend. Would be nice if my coolant usage stayed below 5l/3.5km
Also have a test shot of the Lorinsers. Should fit them up this weekend too if I get the chance. Hopefully I goes to plan and I don't have to raise the front much. I love being 40mm off and seeing peoples faces when I say it's daily driven.

Just started mine this arvo It's really quite straightforward once you take the front section off (i.e. bumper and radiator etc). There is one bastard allen head bolt that holds the thermostat housing on but i just broke of the housing and then undid the bolt... was much easier. The other 3 are relatively easy to undo.

Are you still relipping them, if so after the guards have gotten a good roll you should easily be able to stay at the height your at at the moment.

Also seeing you have a VR i suggest getting some engine mount spacers and a 32 sump for extra clearance. Cracked sumps are not fun.

          • So all of my speakers started crackling the other day, got sick of no music so checked it out. Thought it was just the tweeters so replaced both, plugged them back in and sound is still crackling.

Does anyone have any idea of whats happening? Took the headunit out tonight and looked like everything was plugged in fine.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Cheers

Guards are rolled, it's more the offset with spacers is going to push the stretch point (?) on the side walls of the tyres closer to the guards. Currently I'm almost tucking all the tyre on 16s. Need more stretch than just a 195. I'd love 165/50/16 if I could. Should be okay though. See what happens. I'm explaining this terribly too.
I have thought about mount spacers but most things are avoidable. That and I've got 5mm steel plate wlelded on my sump anyway. I throw sparks intentionally with it haha. Stops people tailgating me

man, these mk3's have been around a while, chances are that your cones have deteriorated... just by a new aftermarket set, cheap as chips.....

Man there is definitely no need for 165 anything.. 205/40's are quite a small tire, suss them out, failing that, if you can find a pair of 195/40's, they'd be the smallest you'd want to go......

Oh I realise that haha. I just love the stretch I have on my RS and wouldn't mind replicating it on the VR. The 195/45 on there now are more than good enough however.

                    • @KKKVR6 clear your inbox man, need to message you!!

Also, those of you that have made your VR6 front seats fold, do the normal 1.8/2.0 upper seat frames have the side bolster bit that the recaro foam slots into (the bit that hugs your back/sides)? Just attempting to swap the frames/foam over on my seats so I can have folding recaro's

Man, with my experience you'll find that the 205/40's are a smaller tyre with similar or more stretch than the 195/45's. I ran the 205/40's on the front 9's and the 195/45's on the rear 9's....

What's on your rs' at the moment?
