Need a replacement air filter for my 2.0

Both shops reckon I can only get a ryco a1414 paper filter, I was hoping for a k&n or something similar. Anyone know if this is a thing? Or only those vr6 types can get them

That ryco filter number sounds like the same one as the VR6 one.
i'll check when I get home, actually have one spare that I don't need.

Anyone know if its best to remove the metal bar in the boot? Has two seatbelts at each end but doesn't seem to do much but i need to have as much room when i move house nxt week..

I took it out and the change in use able space was huge. Its only on aus cars I think and not connected to the struts so no loss of stiffness in the chassis.
