It's tempting. Would need to get a proper bumper and rebadge it as a vr6

If you get to keep your vr just get that bumper sprayed and badges are cheap on ebay.

          Agreed.
If you're keeping the VR as well.

I'm a huge sucker for originality though One of the reasons I loved this car. A conversion doesnt sit with originality haha. Anyone know if it was set up with the vr6 trip computer and cruise control etc? BTW just repaired two cruise ECUs and will be selling them after theyve been tested on the VR.

Just to let you all know, as soon as I have bought my next VR6, I will be selling the car off as a repairable writeoff. Will be trying to sell it to someone who can repair it and get it back on the road but if it comes down to it I'll be parting it out. Any EOIs are encouraged .

If you go for an OEM+ direction you can get the best of both worlds, modified, but factory-eque clean.

My cruise worked, used it about 3 times, VR6s don't respond to computers only a whole lot of gumboot.

I thought there was no such thing as repairable write off anymore and that once a car has been written off its no longer able to be registered?

^Haven't bought one yet There aren't any for sale in QLD!! I'm going (trying) to be patient and will hopefully wait for another clean one to pop up.

And its in the QLD govt. system as repairable writeoff so apparently there is Hopefully there's someone out there who can repair it cheap and get it back driving.

Hehe my cruise has worked everytime I've used it since I did the relay repair and resoldered my fractured solders. Shame it all went to waste in one bloody day

Ah sorry. Misread 'as soon as I have bought another vr6' as 'I have bought another vr6' my bad. Could potentially be a nice donor for my vento... Hmm

Going to see if someone will buy it whole first guys!! Would rather it gets back on the road in one way or another but will let you know if it eventually gets parted out.

The New VR6 - Showroom project.

I know it's a bit late now, but if the person who hit you is insured then third party recovery is the way to go. You just have to find a good panel shop that does it.

I got hit in my Astra and I'm pretty sure it would have been an economic write off if I went through my insurance, but I did third party recovery. Got a loan car, had the car back in a week and it didn't cost me a cent.

I've also been told they won't write a car off through third party recovery for economic reasons, only if it can't be repaired safely.

Sucks about your car though. It looked great.

Unfortunately the only quote they would repair it with was a $5000 one from the girls parents who were smash repairers. ANd they weren't RACQ approved so if anything went wrong id have to cover the cost which I wasn't comfortable with. I got a decent payout so I'm happy enough. Just have to get hold of another one and it'll become the new showroom project That one in Sydney with 92000 looks decent
