Just make sure that you don't put too much money/effort in before it gets inspected. Cars are so easy to write off by just a small shunt and you wouldn't want to waste time/money on a car that is going to be scrapped.

Quoted $5023 for the repair today. I need a different repairer to quote it because the last thing I want to do is write it off. There is no way I am scrapping this car, it's too nice to do that.

Does anyone know of a repairer that would be good with a mk3 and not charge excessive amounts? for what it is, they are charging far too much in my opinion.

I think i'm looking at a write off Waiting for the assesment but judging by the quotes and the value of the car I think I'm buggered. Absolutely shattered. I guess I'll be back on the market!

I honestly can't believe it. And I will don't worry. Just want my money first/ the car repaired if its possible to convince them. Im going to battle for it to be repaired but might have to take the money at the end of the day... She's destroyed a rare example of a vr6 thats for sure.

I'd be distraught. How much have they offered you, they have offered you.

that sucks man :/ I'd also hold off on doing much until it's inspected, it seems with these older cars that aren't insured for a lot they write them off very easy, if there's structural damage like you say they may give you bad news. my old vr6 was written off after after taking a hit to the rear (although it looked a bit harder than that and damaged more stuff). good luck with it! it looked really clean

Haven't had the assessment yet but I'm just going off what the repairers are saying to me. Hopefully I'll be able to either get it repaired or get some decent money for it and buy one that's just as nice. Maybe even buy back this car if it gets written off and part it out or sell it to someone whos keen for a project on here.

Its getting inspected on Monday so I'll let you guys know how it goes.

And yeh I've been depressed about it

Ahh balls man !! Make sure she cops some too.

It doesn't look like theres any structural damage, how fast were u going when she smacked ya ?
An why have u got 2 hits, 1 side an 1 back ?

When you say bubbles, exactly what do you mean?
Have you taken the the interior out an seen physical bubbles on a few metal panels ?

That doesnt look like a very hard hit, I'm a little bit surprised theres structural damage.

Either way, sorry to see it! A set back for sure.

I was stopped and she hit me at I'd say about 10km/h maybe quicker. She hit me on the back right quarter and its forced the entire right rear quarter panel forward somehow. On top of that, the smash repairers reckons its hit right on the rail which attaches to the bumper bar so its completely F*CKED that up. I'm guessing that rail has been forced up into the boot floor which is causing the 'bubble' I'm talking about. Probably better described as warping the floor that can be seen when you lift up the sound deadening stuff on the boot.

It should honestly be a crime to damage a car as nice as it... And she will be getting a massive bloody serve once I get my money or get it fixed.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow. She's all polished up and looking clean and I've got about 8 examples of cars that aren't as good but are asking like 7 grand on carsales.

Any last minute advice on dealing with RACQ would be appreciated.

Car has been written off But I got a substantial pay out which I'm extremely happy about and I'm keeping the wrecked car. Will probably swap some stuff over when I get the new car and then sell it off as a repairable write off. Just have to find a gooodddd one to buy! Not many around at the moment.
