Need a new clutch cable and also discovered the throttle body is literally just sitting on the intake manifold... Soo I need the plastic gasket thing that holds it on there. Does anyone know exactly what parts I'm after and the best place to get them?

The rubber mount between the TB and intake manifold is a common break on the 1.8ltr. Very cheap from VW

After research I think it's called an Injection Flange Mounting... Is that right?

          That sounds about right.

            I got mine here:

VW GOLF MK3 1.8 INJECTION FLANGE MOUNT C316 | eBay

BTW my 2 CL 3-doors from late '95 have rounded indicator repeaters.

Thanks man. Yeah the previous owner of the car said there were slight changes in the late 95 models, like the bumble bee antenna and the roof mounted break light...so I'm guessing the oval indicators too.

What about the clutch cable, should I go for the auto adjusting cable or the manual?
Can anyone post a linky? I'm a lazy bastard lol.

Get a manual one, the automatic ones are ****, even when they're new and working properly they put slight pressure on the clutch all the time which makes it wear out quicker too.

Get the manual one in this from this link: GermanAutoParts.com

Not sure about anywhere local that would sell one, I tried a few places with no luck.

GAP is good, I forgot all about them! Thanks!
So adjusting the manual one, how do you know it's right? I'm sure there's some tutorial somewhere but what exactly do you adjust?

I dont think they'll have the injection flange as the 1.8L engine we have wasn't in the US models, they just got the 2.0, diesel and vr6 in the mk3's.

I have one of those cables although I haven't put it in yet, I assume it will fit but haven't really checked to be honest haha. I'm looking at it right now and its really easy to adjust, it just has a nut on a threaded bit you can turn to tighten/loosen it. It gives you a good couple inches of adjustment, which is heaps. It adjusts the length of the cable if thats what you mean, so you can get the play in the pedal exactly right and such

Yeah I just discovered they don't have it haha.
I'll give the manual one a go, as soon as a had a closer look at the self adjuster on my car I thought it was pointlessly over-engineered.

Certainly is, not sure what they were thinking with the auto one, I guess it's a good idea in theory, but it just doesn't work nearly as well as the manual one. The manual one is cheaper anyway

A quick google search found this DIY, might be useful, I haven't read through it but it looks pretty detailed: VW Jetta How To/DIY: Diy: Manual adj./remouval clutch cable w/ pics|Forum Volkswagen Bora

Awesome man! I've placed my order. I'll hopefully get my reupholstered roof liner back while I'm waiting for it to arrive.
The golf is parked in a garage for the first time in it's life at the moment lol...if only that would fix the already sun damaged paint on the roof

Woulda taken me just under a 1hr to pull panels out and about another 1hr to get headliner done.
Pretty sure theres a diy here somewhere.
Just looking at those pics again
                            Mann soo much potential.

A friend of my missus is doing it. He wanted more jobs like this so I'm kinda doing him a favour, $100 is nothing...all materials paid for.
