Need a new clutch cable and also discovered the throttle body is literally just sitting on the intake manifold... Soo I need the plastic gasket thing that holds it on there. Does anyone know exactly what parts I'm after and the best place to get them?

What about the clutch cable, should I go for the auto adjusting cable or the manual?
Can anyone post a linky? I'm a lazy bastard lol.

Get a manual one, the automatic ones are ****, even when they're new and working properly they put slight pressure on the clutch all the time which makes it wear out quicker too.
Get the manual one in this from this link: GermanAutoParts.com
Not sure about anywhere local that would sell one, I tried a few places with no luck.sigpic

I dont think they'll have the injection flange as the 1.8L engine we have wasn't in the US models, they just got the 2.0, diesel and vr6 in the mk3's.
I have one of those cables although I haven't put it in yet, I assume it will fit but haven't really checked to be honest haha. I'm looking at it right now and its really easy to adjust, it just has a nut on a threaded bit you can turn to tighten/loosen it. It gives you a good couple inches of adjustment, which is heaps. It adjusts the length of the cable if thats what you mean, so you can get the play in the pedal exactly right and suchLast edited by Ben J; 10-10-2012, 10:49 AM.sigpic

Certainly is, not sure what they were thinking with the auto one, I guess it's a good idea in theory, but it just doesn't work nearly as well as the manual one. The manual one is cheaper anyway
A quick google search found this DIY, might be useful, I haven't read through it but it looks pretty detailed: VW Jetta How To/DIY: Diy: Manual adj./remouval clutch cable w/ pics|Forum Volkswagen Borasigpic

Awesome man! I've placed my order. I'll hopefully get my reupholstered roof liner back while I'm waiting for it to arrive.
The golf is parked in a garage for the first time in it's life at the moment lol...if only that would fix the already sun damaged paint on the roof
