195/50 is a massive tyre! I'd be going 195/45 at the most.

I have 205/45/16 at the moment. I don't think 50 would be huge but 45 would get me lower but I'm starting to re think these wheels and go for something wider. That way I won't have to buy again later on.
I'm also not sure how these would go regarding centre bore and lugs have sent pm's to two guys on here who I know have had a set identical to these. See what they say and go from there.Last edited by anthony--t; 27-06-2012, 11:31 PM.

Today started the car it started the same way as always went to drive and it turned itself off? Tried starting it again nothing. Jumped it got it running then cut out again. Jumped AGAIN took it for a spin up the street and it just wasn't idling right and kept threatening to cut out. I'm pretty sure my battery is due for replacing but that wouldn't cause the car to cut out would it? Just not start it. Maybe alternator or fuel problem? Any ideas guys?

You genuinely had me scared for a second when I read time for a new engine :/ haha. Thanks man actually reversed a few of my mods. Started looking too modded for my liking.Originally posted by HaydEn View PostDear god. It's hit the common 'vr wall' time for a new engine.
Hahaha. Just kidding I have no idea. Loving the work.
Thanks mate so if the battery is really really dead that could be the problem. I got it tested down at supercheap not that long ago cause there was some starting issue but it read alternator fine and 55% battery and it fixed itself for a while and then today this. I'm pretty sure and hoping battery is the problem.Originally posted by mrVR6exy View PostCant really say without looking at the car, but a dud battery or a battery not being charged by the alternater will cause it to stutter and die in the arse

Air bag light cause = broken clock spring.

Replaced and cleared with VAG-COM all is good once again!
Was talking about roof racks and my step dad said there's a set stored in the roof of the garage from his old hilux. Got the ladder out and up into the man hole pulled these babys out

Sweet! Free THULE racks!I believe they're thule 300 or something. Not that keen on fitting them permanently until I can figure out a way to lock them down so no one pinches them.
Also amped a set of ///ALPINE type G splits in my fronts sounds so much better.

Really wanted Jarreds modern lines but unexpectedly had some costs that took priority and so couldn't get the money together for them. After regrettably telling him this I found a set of 5x100 15x7 simmons 3 piece wheels on eBay about an hour north of me. Messaged the seller and managed to grab them for a good price so I went and picked them up this arvo/tonight.

After doing some maths I think they're et36 which isn't great but I might fix that with new lips or spacers or something.
The centre bore is 55mm so will need that machined out to 57.1
Haven't tried putting them on the car yet and they probably won't because of the centre bore, fingers crossed they'll clear calipers.
I know there's a lot of hate for 15's on a mk3 but I couldn't be fussy with my budget and the centres fit the 16" barrels if I can find some later on.Last edited by anthony--t; 17-07-2012, 09:21 PM.
