    • sorry steve but just going back the key thing.

do you have an aftermarket alarm that you plan to remove the electronic gizmo outta the remote and swap it into the vw switchblade key???

cos ive been sitting on this idea for awhile now. only thing stopping me is the lack of a decent aftermarket alarm

I got my key cut. and like rayray said they have to remove the blade itself cos it wont fir in the machine.

when i got mine done i watched the guy do it. he took the pin out, cut the key and put the pin back in. simple as that. and the price?? $2.95!

      perfect job.

      • Yo Eric thats cool yeah I have a decent alarm system something that I am thinking of upgrading in the near future. But basically what I am going to do is and there is a thread on the mk3 forums on the tex and basically they take the alarm unit out and make it fit with cutting and re-soldering new wires so that it will fit. You have to cut some of the plastic bits in the key fob but you can't see it on the outside its all internal.

Does your VR have a emobiliser chip cause my hardest point at the moment is getting the front part off to try and get the key fob apart so I can stick the chip in that part there.

        • is the chip located in the original keys ?

all i know is that my vr is fitted with a ****y alarm system that is now disabled. im currently saving for a decent alarm.

i would love to one day use my lock and unlock buttons on the switchblade key

The emobiliser chip is located in the standard key thats the part that you will need for the car to start I am guessing that your car does not have a emobiliser

Using the keys on the switchblade key is achievable just alot of patience and thinking for it!

That is the thread this guy made his key and changes them up thats what I have been looking at.

                • Ahh - BBS Goodness

So this morning another smallish update, however something that will be putting a smile on my face for the rest of the weekend everytime I look at them

Words can not describe the excellence that this man does, Peter from Oz Wheels

Well after I received my phome call yesterday I planned my day for today to get up early and make the trek out to St Mary's mind you this is a 45km trek from my house Anyway I will stop talking and let the pics do all the talking

Compared to what they where and Raymond can vouch for there state and the work that Peter does, I highly recommend him as a choice of wheel repair! He himself was gobsmacked at how well these wheels came out!

More pics tomorrow of car at the panel beaters.

                  Cheers Steve
