And for an overall great drive car in any cond.
    Just jump in any VW/

You sir, are doing the fraternity of VW/not "jap-crap" owners no favours. The level of intelect and common sense displayed in your posts above resemble that of the neanderthal bogan rednecks of various Dead End Suburbs of Yours and My towns. You know the ones, left skool at 15 cos it was a waste of time (and take pride in telling you this), call their mates "Mackka" or "Juzza", enjoy nuthin more than chuggin VB tinnies (except for maybe chuggin Jim Beam premixers, or maybe tryin to get it off with Sharline or Jonno's lil sis down the back room at Davo's joint), will defend to the death their afilliation with either Holden or Ford (really, who cares?), and usually reside on "Hot-as Holdens" or "Fvckin Awesome Ford" or some such forums.

All manner of people drive all manner of cars, and you know what? Some of them are good, some of them are crap. Some of them are fast, some of them are not. Some are German, some Japanese, some from elsewhere. They all sell. They all have a market. I have driven and owned many cars from many makers and there are good and bad cars, with good and bad points across the board.

The point in question in this thread is wether a VR6 makes a good daily driver. I think I made my thoughts quite clear on this one in an earlier post with a well rounded and considered post:

No offense, I love my little VR6, but I have driven no car that comes close in character, fun factor, poo-my-pants factor, sex on wheels factor, than my old RX7. That was the hottest car I will ever own (unless I suddenly become very rich and buy myself a 911 Turbo or some such fantasy car). My old man recently bought a 2001 M3. Awesome car, but after owning it for 2 months he said to me "you know, this car is an awesome package, but for sheer thrills, drop dead gorgeous looks, and all the attention of a rockstar, nothing beats that old RX7 of yours. Only draw back with that thing was the killer fuel bill".

The VR6 fits exactly the mould I was looking for when buying this car: a cheap, economical, comfortable, practical, *reliable*, *rare*, middle ground car with 4 doors, no turbos, and a little bit of "go" to appease the boy in me - the perfect daily driver!

I really hope you are troll, otherwise you are a very sad person.

Ahhhhhh! Just noticed you list a VL Comodore as a car you own. This explains much.

        Come on fellas,
Sukebe dont create a **** fight by personal attacks, im know DOHCDAVE didnt meen to offend anyone as he said "So please don't take any offence, those who have jap crap"
cars are personal things, i personally love a range of jap cars and all other forms/brands/models of car, and my tastes differ from everones, as do yours.

so in short, edit your post because peoples opinions on cars do not warrant a personal onslaught OK?

lets get back on topic shall we

Im with you there GolfMan! I guess I was aluding more to the idea of maintaining a degree constructive discussion on this forum. I hate it when unintelligent, moronic statements are made, rather than a mature considered opinion (with which I may or may not agree, but will always respect).

Back on topic, as Ive said earlier, the VR6 is a cheap, comfortable, *reliable*, economical, practical car that has just enough "go" to appease the boy racer in me - the perfect daily driver!

P.S. My other post was also meant to be quite tongue-in-cheek, I had hoped it would get a few chuckles. More of a piss-take than an agressive attack.

it was quite funny but could be interprited as being attacking

my only issue with 10 year old jap sports cars (which are mainly turbo) is that they on the whole are owned by people who thrash the crap out of them (which is what they are built for!) while not giving them the maintainance that they truly require, therefore after 10 years things start breaking because young ricers just discover what boost does and wind it up .

The VR6 however never really appealed to the younger "hoon" type as it was far to expensive and was never really recognised in Aus as a desireable sports car because of the FWD hatch layout... Also by the high price tag the VR6 was generally bought by people who could afford to properly maintain them. Also the fact that its not exactly a stressed engine

i'd say its a great daily because of my above statement!

Also, because they look fairly mundane on the outside; you dont get much unwanted attention. From the fuzz or gits in their rice rockets.

Except for you and me in our "look at me" kermit green! (Actually, some of my mates have said the colour is kinda gay, but at least the missus likes it, and its always easy to find in a carpark!)

                  Obviously i've offended people.
                  SORRY!

Though i'm glad to see, some see the view i have, and have not read into my post to seriously as a personal attck at anyone inparticular.
Just at the cheaper throw away cars that i'm refering to.
And my language could've had a little more thought put into it.
As my gramma isn't the best, a lot may have been taken the wrong way.

And yes, I have taken serious offence to your comments SUKEBE directed at me.

And never! did i mention that "you" said to buy a jap sports car if you want a sports car.

YES i'm dropping this negative discusion after this post.

Hope you are all enjoying driving VW's as daily's, as vw intended.

(All manner of people drive all manner of cars, and you know what? Some of them are good, some of them are crap. Some of them are fast, some of them are not. Some are German, some Japanese, some from elsewhere. They all sell. They all have a market. I agree with you here.
My point IMO, i suppose was that VW are Superior to any asian car, as build quality is much much better, also VW has maintained character through all models in 50 yrs.
And the fact they have been over engineered, and ahead of it's time in "almost" all models and continue to set the bench mark with technology, NOT copied from other makes, etc etc, Puts them leages in front of asian cars.

AUDI, BMW, PORCHE, JAG, MERC ect to "me" would also be considered as much better cars.

As not having owned a vr6, though driven them, IMO they are ideal for the single bloke as well as a family car for a daily driver.

VW aint just a car the're a way of life for ME.

Life's short, so whatever you drive enjoy them while you can.

Cheers from your forum BOGAN, SCHOOL DROP OUT, NO HOPER, VB DRINKER

I've had nothing but good karma about the colour. Chicks especially dig it

I hear ya on the car park thing too. I always forget where ive parked. I used to own a boring white car and sometimes had to wander for 10mins looking for the damn thing!!! Much much easier with the green machine now.

The 2.0L is great for a run around car but gutless on the highway and generally lack-lustre. A VR6 would be great but i couldnt justify the increased petrol cost or the price difference so for now, im sticking with the 2slow until i graduate/win lotto

Dammit, I haven't got that yet. Though I have had a friend's mum call it cute

VR6's as a daily isn't that bad at all. Yes, relative to other hatches they are fuel guzzling, but they're definitely better than your average Commodore, Avalon, or Magna.
